Mine has been letting water in and I think its the cause of my hesitating when cold issues, as my car is modified and needs all the air it can get, would putting a standard nose panel on be ok and would it cure the problem?

Ps. Sorry for all the posts in this section but all these niggles with the car are starting to do my head in.

Some have noticed issues with vented nose panels and after market induction cone's etc

some also put guard's around the cone to protect it more from the elements ( i believe some come with these) or yep an original nose panel should alleviate the prob

got one to if need it is uk spec and in gun metal grey ?

If their are no differences between the Japs and the uk one then I will take it off your hands, how restrictive is the original air filters?

It's the same fit mate i had it on my J-spec for a while , will pm you about it now

and yep the original airbox's are known to be restrictive ;)

going for a single apexi cone i think :D

ive had two different styles of vented headlight panels and after prolonged heavy rain they both let enough water in to cause occasional cutout at high revs (4000 and above) - not had any problem with idling or normal driving though. you can potentially get as much water on the intake from road splash below. to me, these are only minor occasional problems and are outweighed by the styling of an aftermarket panel. plus, who'd want to put their foot down while the road's still wet

in terms of the original air filters - if you mean the panel filter and your car is modified, then 'yes, very'!

on a side-note ive just replaced my twin intake kit with a single apexi again, as i was getting rough idling with the twin.

It is impossible to but your foot down in the wet in a zed and im very carefull, the problem only occures for the first 10mins or so when pulling away, the revs will drop and nearly stall and when I do start driving the car holds back and after about 10 mins of driving it will be fine. I also have a splash guard underneath. Maybe its time for a new MAF.

I've got a vented front - the only time it caused huge probs was when I had the panel in for painting and the Apexi filter and MAF got soaked.

I dried them all off and it cured it but was a concern for a while.

It's only ever coughed once with the panel fitted and that's in 18 months so no problem really.

Just bought a 2nd MAF to take on hols to Germany as it always deluges in Belgium.........

A corroded temp sender conection can cause this , it used to happen on mine , it,s the yellow plug on the top alloy water pipe on the front of your engine , it,s probably as green as your grass !!!!

Might be the sender itself bud . HTH

This is a cover i made for my filter , i know it looks like a pair of pants but works a treat:rofl: , made out of stiff plastic .

i went from a Vented panel to a stock smooth panel and noticed 0 difference in performance so im sure you will be fine :)

Cheers mate but I have had a new wiring loom and new temp sender, I did make a perspex cover to go over the filter but it caused my nose panel to sit higher than my headlights and looked daft + it still hesitated anyway, I think my MAF might be on its way out but it funs perfectly fine after 10 mins or so. Seems to only happen when cold.

The last thing needed is a wet filter. Vents on the nose panel have cosmetic effect and could even mess up the internal airflow.
