Well folks, after much thought recently the car will be going for an engine rebuild with Andy Duff. Andy sourced parts for me from z1 and sent me the information on everything required with forged pistons etc. So i am just waiting to hear back from him on the final gasket sizes etc to get. He will be rebuilding an engine he alreayd has so that i can just take my car down to him and just have the engines swopped over, and he is able to do it basically ASAP for me and have it done and back to me before the 19th august which is when i go on holiday..........as you can guess im extremely excited.

Hes been a great guy and very very very helpful and comes highly recommended so im looking forward to getting the work carried out.

Cheers lads:D!!:):):)

No mate not going for bigger tubs just getting the standard ones refurbed. so with bascally refurbbed turbs new forged pistons etc......actually relacing near enough everything....Im only after around 300bhp at the wheels. Andy has said when he does the rebuild and is finished with the tweeks etc he says the engine will be more than capable of 500bhp if i choose to go down that route

300rwhp will be easy mate. my engine and tubs are stock and with a little tuning i already have over 300rwhp and should be pushing that to 350rwhp soon.

Just spoke to andy again and he reckons the bhp of the car will be 400 with stock injectors max. so im happy with that, should achieve maybe around 300 or over at the wheels.

look forward to seing it finished mate. pop down to a SE meet for a nice long drive  .

lol.....its a nice long drive for me to get there, 300miles about 5 hours buddy.lol. If use are up that way when i drive her home then i will meet use.

no bother, looks like i will be spending a couple of days down there with andy, getting involved in the engine also. Cant wait!

maybe not going to andy duff then...ahhhhh dunno what to do now as he would have had it done by august.lol. O well back hunting for someone who can do it beginning of august...anyone...anyone....Jimmer any cancelations?lol?

fookin 'ell. For good?

Sounds like it.

I really hope not ! Andy is one of the most knowledge Z guru's in the UK, and an honest and trustworthy specialist.

well all i can say is ive heard of 2 negatives from him, dont know of any other but im sure he has many happy customers.

People backstabbing and stirring shit ?

You wont find anyone in the UK that knows more than him, very Zed knowledagable and an experienced mechanic. He was this clubs Biggest Technical Contrbutor for many years before there were fallings out over personal matters.

Every Garage has customers who have not been happy at some point, EVERY garage. Trouble with the Internet is one persons bad experience becomes 100 peoples bad experience as rumours spread.

It does not matter which garage you use, no matter how many people recommend them, there will be others to give you negatives.

Sometimes its justified, other times its not. There are always 2 (or 3) sides to every story.

Ignore it, speak to whoever you want to use yourself. You can get a far better idea of wether that mechanic/Garage is the right one for you, than listening to idol gossip.

This is why the Club stopped having authorised Traders.

Yeah mate may aswell give me there number and i can check:D! cheers

Thats what im thinking legrath.....i understand there is alot of unhappy customer who didnt get the cars done on time or whatever, but there must surely be people with raving reviews.

I personally just listen to everyones comments dont take them in all the time. But i am oviously majorly concerned with this, but you never now could be a turning point for andy.

Anyways, lets stop talking about all this etc as it can easily get out of hand.

got it, where are they based?

there seem to be a lot of backstabbers on here at the moment, was like when i was selling my car people were putting people off buying it by telling lies, ive heard mixed reviews about andy, but i he is closing down it wont be going there anyway will it?

p.s, i didnt say owt about him to craig

Not good if these rumors are bull5hit this is someones lively hood been destroyed

When I was new to the Z scene I was stupid enough to listen to some people on here in the past not recognising the back stabbing that was going on and ended up not fixing my Z for a lot longer than I should have due to being uncertain over who to go to ending up in more of a mess.

My 2p worth now is to say, speak to the mechanics yourself, if you get along fine and build up a good feeling then thats always a good sign, ask questions. As Legrath points out there are people on here with years of experience that counts for a lot and to some extent speaks for itself!

Also note this is not targeted at yourself but I have also noticed that quite a few owners of Z's that pick them up for around £1500 with problems do not consider what they are getting into and hence expect skilled mechanics to be able to fix in some cases quite time consuming work for pennies. The two things dont match up so the customer keeps on putting preassure on the professional who tries their best to accommodate but may end up with a bigger bill than they expected. Sometimes one diagnosed problem reveals another that needs to be fixed and it can get very costly. Owning a car like the Z involves putting your hand in your pocket. I dont think any long term Z garage is in this to swindle us. Owning a Z when the engine goes wrong can get costly, thats a fact.

I guess a lot of the moans come from the fact that really the customer is not happy paying what they see as paying extra to get the job done where as its necessary.
