I've cut the hole in the dash above the audio/heater surround, however I can't get the fibreglass gauge mount to sit flat. I've had a good look at it and the hole doesn't seem to be stopping it from sitting correctly, I'm wondering if the gauge mount is warped. I've tried calling Luke at Zcentre but he's away until the 27th. Can fibreglass warp? Is there anything I can do or do I just have to wait for Luke to get back?

Any advice would be appreciated.

cheers

fiber glass can warp when over heated during curing any number of things can cause it you can trim it down to fit if only the lower edge is out of shape to the dash

You have to add pressure on all sides of the dash pod, it will sit flush at the bottom near the vents but tends to lift slightly nearer the back of the unit ie: front vents

Thanks for the help folks, I've had a good look at it today and I'm convinced that the corner is warped. I've taken a photo of the problem, ignore the reflection from the windscreen. The mount sits quite nicely all round except the rear top corner :headvswal Think I will need to speak to Luke about it.

are you sure you made the hole big enough, the fibreglass unit is quite strong and uless it came like that i would doubt it would bend or warp unless it was near some serious heat.

After all when its on the dash in bright sunlight on a very hot day, it doeasnt warp.

might just have to re adjust for it to sit properly. By adding pressure to the pod gauge as it sticks there should be enough give in the foam on the dash to get it to sit right.

I'm sure that the mount isn't catching on the hole I've cut, it fits nicely except that corner. I bought it a couple of months ago and can't remember for sure but I think it came like that.

I was going to use black mastik to stick it down with but that corner needs so much pressure to keep it down, I'm scared that when it dries it will spring back and rip the dash.

I see what you mean, best speak to Luke first, when he gets back off his hols, he will probably exchange it for you, no help to you now though.

Yeah, pretty sure Luke will sort it for me. Oh well, plenty of other jobs to be getting on with!

Cheers for your help mate.

Should be easy enough to form back. Try and apply some oppisite pressure then heat it up with a hair dryer, This should help to turn the glass into a rubber state.

You can leave it with oppisite presure for a day or 2 so it reforms. or you can back it up with a little extra glass.

Simple :)
