Good news, I managed to pick her up early, and she's now parked in her new home. It's raining buckets here in Coventry at the minute, so pics are all indoor shots at the moment, in crap lighting, but I'll have better shots in a couple of days.
I'm gonna wait till after USC to MOT her, or I'll just have that expense every year right at the wrong time next year, so I'm using my head, not my heart, and putting back the expected "On Road" date to sometime around the 2nd week of August.
Considering she hadn't been started in over 2 years, the drive back was smooth, if a little smoky in drive at 3500rpm @ 70mph. Once I hit the overdrive button, and the revs dropped backto 2100rpm, the smoke died away, but as I was coming back into the 30mph zone by my house, the smoke was back, and oticable especiallywhen I came off the throttle for roundabouts or corners. She has had the oil feed pipes for the turbo re-tightened a few times, so that's my first port of call for checking her.
Question for all you petrol knowledgable people... Could the over two year old petrol make it smoke like that?
Once we got her in the garage, I left her for a bit, then restarted her, let her idle for a min or two, then checked to see how bad the smoke was. All the way thru the rev range, she was fine, not a puff, all the way to the limiter, that also tells me that either it's gonna clear, or the turbo area is the right place to start....
And I have great plans for this car. She's gonna get a set of coilovers, and a bodykit this side of xmas, but that's after the dyno setup. I'm going to a Jap specialist near Nuneaton, called MGT Racing for all the diagnostics, and setup. They know their stuff with Skyline's, they have a
Wheels will come at some point, as she's running on 16" rims at the minute. Granted, they're 3-peice split rims, but I will be changing them at some point around the time the kit gets fitted.
More to come as it happens....
