I've Made a Start

on the headlamps.......

The one in the foreground is as they came off the lamps, the one behind is part way through prep.

All of the metal parts are being keyed (sanded), any rust dealt with, then they will be primed and then a coat or two of satin black applied to bring them back to their former glory.

Once that is all done I'll be concentrating on the 99 spec inserts (Painting etc) and then assemble them all back together.

I was hoping to clean up the plastic bodies, but nothing I have even comes close to doing this! I've used Carb cleaner, Electrical Contact cleaner and de-greaser and not a single mark has gone  anyone with an idea as to what I could use?

Anyway, more photos as I progress............

Good start Dave... regarding the cleaning side of things - carb cleaner is very similar to brake cleaner and if that doesnt shift it not sure anything will?! :(

Its a shame they always seem to get so shabby, even without a spot of rust on the rest of the car.

I did the same to mine, and it makes a nice improvement. I cleaned by plastic bodies with brake cleaner, they came up nice and white.
