air lock
bled it 3 times.

how long did you run it without any fluid in it?
I thought the big pipe at the bottom of pas pot was split but its not so it had fliud! tried bleeding it again you can see the fluid level going down when start bleeding it but still heavy so taken the pas pot off again and the large hose to pump to check over and its ok no splits, what next?

any noises from the pump??

no. anyway of checking the pump? or whats involved in removing it?

first the belt, then there is a hole in the pully line this up at the top and you will find a bolt through it. remove this, rather long bolt. then remove the tentioner for it. i cant remember fully but i think its just a couple of 14mm bolts. really easy to be honest:)

thanks mike, if i replace it do i need to bleed the hicas as well as the powersteering?

well cant see it being the pot as there isent much to go wrong there. i assume all the pipes are ok? so i assume that only leaves the pump or the rack???

i got no leaks from any pipes and no leaks from the rack so stumped.

its not electrically assisted is it like on some cars?

i am not sure! the fluid in the pas pot is getting hot so does that mean its getting worked around the system?

dan.

  • Author
dont think it should get hot. was the old fluid grey or smell burnt?? if so i would suspect the rack

well its had that much new fluid in it its still red, all this cause i changed to the powdercoated pas pot! is it really worth it?

How did you bleed it ?

jack front car up, top up pas pot turn ignition on and turn steering full lock both sides several times and keep topping up fluid as it goes down, then start car and do the same again until the fluid stops going down, put top back on. ( going to try me old pas pot tonight keep your fingers crossed for PLEAZE! )

well you may know i had some problems with my powdercoated pas pot so after some cutting i have come to the conclusion that when the pas pot was being prepd for its coating it was cleaned with a fine shot blast process and yes you guessed it the pas pot pot filter was clogged up as you can see from the pics. :smash:

dan. :)

What a shame, I thought you were joking about cutting it up:eek:
did say other night it was due some payback!

I guess your not having a blue PAS Pot anymore.
