Not really sure on this at the moment but the thought has been crossing my mind! And i have found myself checking out (dare i say it) type-ra imprezas:nelson: i know they are damn ugly but recently i have felt the need for something a bit more grippy and better acceleration especially on the twisties. Whats peoples opinions on these?

i know what you mean about having more advantage on the bend's , hope you dont leave us though bud , and 2 be honest i'm not to fussed on any impreza's

It's an impreza, Best avoided IMO, chocolate pistons (unless you get the WRX version I think) and to be honest normally driven by either fat single men trying to pull yuong girls or chavy twats.

 

The evo is a better car, but more costly to service, for an every day car I would and did plump for the GT4 St205, cheaper to buy, cheaper to run, less maintenance, better looking and just as quick if not quicker. Only down side is it's a 2 door and the boot isn't massive so if it's a family car you're after then probably not what you'd want.

people think scooby drivers are just chavs etc......where as in your zed you get more respected as its not an everyday car and looks special.

Wouldnt mind an evo but a bit out of my price range, ra scoobs tend to be reasonable priced and acceleration is fantastic although top speed is only abou 130mph i think? I cant stand gt4's sorry i wouldnt even look at them.

have you driven any classic shape Impreza's before ?

 

I know the RA is the lightweight one with shorter gear ratio's but I'd never be able to get over the nasty plasticky interior and overall cheap driving experience of the Impreza.

 

The EVO is definatly superior and are'nt early models of similar price ? The GT4 is of much higher quality than the both of them and far nicer to drive, feels like a well built Sports car rather than a flimsy hothatch like the impreza.

I know what you mean but i think a lot of drivers get stereotyped by what car they drive i personally hate the uk scoobs and the type of chav it attracts, whereas the ra is very understated car and in a different league compared to the others.

yeah see what you mean same as the p1......but then the zed is just by far so much more appealing to anyone thats a neutral due to being more unique

Trouble is it sounds like a scooby which straight away makes people think "TWAT", I don't think I have ever witnessed a scooby not revved up to the red line in the first 2 gears just to get "that" sound

 

If the GT4 is not for you, then get an EVO. Falling that plump for a GTR skyline.................

I had a N/A 300zx and sold that to buy a 96 impreza type RA 555 about 5 years ago. It was a nice car, handled well but found the box ratios are close and found i was always changing gear. I also found the seats not be that comfortable, well not as good as the 300zx.

I got rid of it or should i say wrote it off (not my fault) in the end and went back to the 300zx, which i'm driving now. Never looked back.

300zx is more fun to drive more comfortable sounds great, its a much better car.

imprezas are nasty cars. Dont get me wrong, quick and great handling. Too 'protonish' for me. Plastic interior, windows flapping about etc.

 

Evos are much better but thats why they cost more.

I had one running 380 bhp... Prodrive upgraded brakes and wheels... Engine rebuild had been done as the oil pump hadn't been changed on import... Interior was horrid, gear ratios were far to close, it made any journey over 30 miles or on any motorways a real chore... I wouldn't have one again... If you're going to buy a scoob buy a late model STI i.e. after 2003, the rest are best steered clear of imho.... Oh... and I had to replace every piece of rubber hose and such under the bonnet which is right PITA! Awful!

Never been fussed by Imprezas. Sure I can appreciated a nice sorted P1, but that's about it. I'm not really into these small cheap looking sports saloons, like the Evo and Impreza. They just don't get me shaking at the knees.

I chose not to in the end as it would of stretched my budget a bit and plus my mixed feelings about the car recentley, i dont know whats wrong with me at the moment i find myself scouring the net checking out different cars and prices etc i suppose ill never be happy with what i got:D

Some cheap evos about now, dont you think StellaZ. I was a user on that site when i was looking for a new toy "Evo6" but bought the zed. The cost running converter thing on that site pretty much swayed things for me.

My mate has a scooby. Performance wise i leave it for dead. even for 1st gear standing start.

 

He also drove mine in the twisties and said the zx would also have the edge but only just. But i have upgraded everyting :rolleyes: Said it was also easyer to drive at speeds :)

 

His is a uk WRX btw 96 reg chiped etc

 

If i was to get a scooby it would have to be the 22B
