1992 na manual, have to put cats back on car but last owner didnt buy decat pipes i know this will be expensive to correct but has to be done as fails mot on emissions there are ways around that but anyway with cats back on will the car operate the same o2 sensors still in place

If its failing on emissions then its becuase you have a running issue, fitting cats may solve the issue but I would want to find out why and solve the actual problem.

A 300zx has no problems passing emissions with cats removed.

The o2 sensors are in the exhaust headers, not affected by the fitting or removal of cats. You should'nt have a problem getting hold a set of 2nd hand Z cats.

the emissions is a pre cat test on the 300's so i think it does not matter if you have cats or not. you can pull the vac pipe on the rear of the plenum to make it pass the emmisions.

i have to say the garage who changed my timing belt said timing almost bang on and it pinks abit at low revs could it be timing issue,if is can i sort it without belt coming off

they said timing "almost" bang on ?

providing thye fitted the belt correctly the timing can be adjusted at the CAS (by unscrewing and moving in smrall increments left or right) while checking with a strobe light for 15 tdc.

Other causes are anything that can cause it to run too rich - faulty o2 sensors, temp sender, fuel pressure regulator and vacumn leaks.
