Before getting my car mapped and the boost increased, is it a good idea to replace the fuel pump, either a new standard one or an upgraded one, my pump is good but is it worth changing?

Featured Replies

i know the standard ones are good for a lot of power,

aslong as working correctly!

havent heard of any going bad tho on here?

a good working oem fuel pump can support 500 odd bhp

if its pretty old then worth going to a bosch or walbro pump

Mike

Dont you need 2 Walbro`s to exceed the l/ph of a standard pump? I cant for the life of me remember what a stock pump is rated at. lol

no the oem is 255 l/ph and so is the walbro, unless your going for big power then you need just one :)

Im hoping my car will be running in the high 400's at the wheels, my standard fuel pump seems good, is it worth changing it or would it be a waste of money? Is their any way of telling if its old, I will have a look through my recipts tonight to see if it has ever had a new one.

you would already be on the oem pumps limits at high 400's at the wheels anyway as well as 1 walbro pump so i would fit 2 walbro pumps in tandem and run 2 new fuel lines and fuel filters then T them together before the fuel rail, best be on the safe side when it comes to fueling!!!!!
