Hi everyone,

Bit of a long story, but I'll try to keep it short! I have a car for work and have another car for the weekends. This is my introduction, from about 3 years worth of changes!

I've always loved the feel of acceleration, and ended up having an MR2 turbo (sorry). Looked ok as far as they can, but at the end of the day, I felt like a complete mincer being seen in it and telling people what I drove.

It was about 2005/2006 and it was time for a change, everyone had skylines or poopras and I wanted something different and loved the look of the Zed. Never driven one before and thought I'd lose that feeling that the MR2 gave as the Zed was bigger and heavier. Got bored at work one day so decided to look at importing one, all part of the project I felt? "Looked" at 11 in total and wanted a manual, twin turbo.

Picked it up from Southampton docks, started to get it on the road and got ready to start posting on here.

Was I wrong about losing that feeling that the MR2 gave me! Holy feck! Scared the life outta me! Loved it! Had a slight smoking issue though.....

After reading all the help here I'd done loads. PCV valves, gaskets, throttle bodies, getting rid of the annoying "bong".......... can't tell you all how much you've all helped!

Sob story bit.....

Got made redundant at the end of 2006, found out that the smoking was caused by a cracked turbo housing, which under boost would spray a fine jet of oil over the exhaust. Looked like a James Bond smoke screen! On the way back from the garage after finding this out, the heater matrix let go and that was that. The AA towed me back and the Zed put in my garage. Girlfriend of 5 years left me. Got another girlfriend who turned out to be mental and took all of my time and effort.

So, been single for a year now, lost two and a half stone by going to the gym, and..........saved some money to get my Zed mate back on the road! Yeehaaarr! I'm back!

So, I need some recommendations of who can sort my car out in my area. (Sussex) I've been trying not to think about it for a while now because it used to get me down, so I'm a little out the loop! Any help and recommendations would be welcome.

Regards,

Simon.

P.s. I've been reading stuff on here for a few years witout saying anything. Firstly, black is the fastest colour. I do read labels on bathroom products while I take a dump. I also own a 1976 Rover P6, 3.5 litre V8, seem to remember a few people saying they liked them?

Wow....member of 4 years and your first post  err... Welcome :D lol

I believe Ztech would be your closest dedicated Z specialist, but somebody in the sussex area may be able to recommend a closer general Jap specialist with Z experience.

I do feel the need to correct you a little on one issue however - Black is the indeed the fastest standard colour , but Blue is the fastest colour when taking into account all possible colours ofcourse ;)

Welcome, and that's a hell of a story bud , get some pics up, and am sure there is a few members down that way so should be able to direct you to a trustworthy garage

Lol! I know I know, I've been saving myself! But that's it now, I'm just concentrating on me and what I want!

Yes, sorry, I meant to say standard colours.

Ah yes, I had forgotten about Ztech. I'll check them out! Thanks for that! I'm getting a shopping list together too, I'll add them to the list of things for me to check out!

I'll get some pics up too. Got some of when I first got it from the boat, and how it is now, which may upset some of us on here..................but it'll be good again!

welcome to the club mate - sorry to hear about your ex's, but looks like things are looking up - welcome back to the world of Z ownership

Cheers mate. No need to feel sorry, been putting other people before me at my own expense for too long. I *might* have learnt my lessons now? So looking forward to this!

Scottish welcome to the club as well mate.

So, you had a long term relationship which ended and then a short term relationship which was mental.

You are ripe for Zed ownership !:)

Join those two together and you will be hooked, retarded and skint afore you know it !! Zed`s kinda do that to ya !!

Me time, is the phrase you are looking for, so get sorted out and put that Zed back on the road. You sound like you deserve it !:)

You are in the best place for any Zed thingys you might need !

Welcome and join in the banter, thick skin is essential tho !

Cheers boys!

"Me time" that's the nail on the head right there! Nearly finished the shopping list. I guess I should subscribe so I can put some piccies up?

You know, it's funny, I've been reading posts and advice for so many years on this site, now you're chatting with me it's like I'm talking to celebrities or something?

All I need now is for Stella to say hi and my first thread will almost be complete!

Hi mate, Good to see another Sussex member. Whereabouts are you?

Morning Stu,

Up early aren't you? I'm in Peacehaven, where abouts are you?

I've done a little bit of work myself, I don't claim to be a mechanic, but I can work stuff out. What needs doing now though is a bit beyond me and my facilities!

Hopefully, I'll catch you soon.

Simon.

Welcome! Would NOT take it to Ztech. I and many many others recommend Jimmer. Everyone who's used him has had nothing but top class service from him. A nice chap who takes LOTs of pride in his work at very reasonable prices.

  • Author

FunkySi, thanks for the heads up! Who and where is Jimmer?

Bantambunny, might be? Haven't made my mind up yet! Nice to be a part of all the sarcasm for a change......yeah, I've been watching!

I've been here about the same time as you buddy but looking at the post count you've got a fair bit to catch up so get posting  lol

  • Author

Sounds like a challenge to me? See how many daft threads I can think up!

Just searched for Jimmer, didn't twig that he's a member! I Might be a bit out of his area though?

  • Author

Cheers Legrath, trouble is, the Zed's a non-runner, so I'm kind of limited at the moment?

Jimmer is a forum member and highly regarded for his engine builds. He is based in Bristol. 'James Thomas Engine Builders'. People travel down from Scotland for his fair hand! LOL

Send him a PM.
