HELP!

AA's on the way but it started sounding a bit dodge a few days ago, like the teeth were slipping a bit. now its gone the full hog and make a horrendous grinding noise when trying to start.

Could the starter have come loose? I could hear some jingling and noise when it started getting ropey.

Is it easy to get to the starter to check? I don't even know where to look for it :o

my mums old BM started doing this (i know it may be completely different) however for her when it happened the car did not start but made a grinding noise when using starter moter. she tried a few times then resorted to leaving the hand brake off, disengaged the clutch and rocked the car but i cant remember completely..... then the car had no grinding and started......

did not do it for months however her trick worked everytime

was thinking a tooth was missing or something as the teth can quite often land on the same spot causing wear and tear

give it a try as you have nothing to lose.... hopefully something works

Pretty common for the bolt to work loose or worse for the thread to have stripped. Do a search and you'll find plenty of posts about it. Basically you end up having to tap out the hole with the next size up with I think is M12 and use a larger bolt.
