Hi all, going to be doing an oil change the weekend (engine + autobox) last oil change was at Zedworld but this time im going to have ago myself. i can get mobil 1 0w40 fully-syn cheap at work, would this be too thin? and pass worn clyinders? also is dextron 3 ok for a gearbox change??

Mine is on that engine oil and is completely fine, on leaks or trouble. Mine has done around 58000mile.

I think op has said 0w40 not 10w40 or am i reading it wrong. Looks like the 1 is from the Mobil1

This is just my opinion - and I expect many will not agree but 1 or 2 will - but if you're using a decent fully synthetic like Mobil-1, then 3000 mile/3 month changes are unnecessary/overkill.

I'd leave it at least 6k miles or 12 months even on a twin turbo. 3000 miles is not enough time for a fully synthetic oil to do its stuff. I'm sure Oilman posted a thread about that some time back......

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
