Only after switching on my car and theres a small ratle coming from the very top of the engine i think it comes from the area of the valves.

anyone can help trying to diagnose this and need to know if its drivable as im 50miles away from home.

thanks in advance.

If its lifters then its nearly always solved with some lifter treatment and an oil change.

now your talking mate! that would be good news!

can you use that will any type of oil?

dan.:D

I used wynn's hydraulic valve treatment from memory? not expensive, and dropped it after 3000,mls !! :)

Maybe worth a try if it seems to be pointing towards the lifters

well left the car in cookstown think it will be off the road for a while! back to walking and get fit lol its not even funny really..

RAC guy also wreckons its hy valve lifters so not to sure what to do it will still be up to £600 (parts and labour) to get it fixed id say?

Will give it a try to change oil and do the hy lifter treatment but i guess the problem will still be there it will only cover it for a while.

Its a common issue with Z's , many are driving around with noisy lifters but I've seen lifter treatment permanently solve plenty of noisy top ends.

As legrath said, try the valve lifter treatment and maybe a couple of oil change's in reasonably quick succession ,

some times you can get a car that gives you nothing but bother and a zed that always plays up is a money pit thats why when you buy one of these you have to get a good one. I agree with you Nelson that its time to say goodbuy to this zed as your heart is not with it any more and a new and fitter young model will put a smile back to your face;)
