Driving for 30 years never involved in a car accident went out this evening to get petrol and stoped at traffic lights, it was then I seen my worst nightmare coming behind me a teenager in a renault clio flying towards me:shock: I knew what was coming next, my son was in the zed with me told him to hold on then the noise of tyres squealing on the road a lot of blue smoke then bang o/s rear corner takes the impact:mad:out jumps a very shocked (camp)teenager shaking like a leaf and already on the phone to his mum. Well what can you do we were both ok so got out looked at my poor zed:cry:and all I can hear is do you want to exchange insurance details and mummy whats my insurance company. So to cut a long story short I brought him up to my house give him a cup of tea and exchanged details I was just glad no one was hurt so managed to get him calmed down and of he went back to his mum.But whats going to happen to my zed the rear bumper absorbed most of the impact but there is a big dent in the rear panel the zost is hanging low what will the asseser say Iam now a bit woried took some picks what do you think

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO  Dam young kids always think they are the best drivers ever!!! FFS when will they ever learn

OMG thats bad to hear matey......

glad to hear everything is ok. hate to think what the damage looked like on his.

good thing these zeds have fairly strong arses. wouldn't of liked to see the same thing head on.

hopefully this will get fixed soon and hope you and your son are ok

evening mate sorry to hear of your miss fortune..... if the bumper isnt cracked then they will just spray that and also if the rear panel is only dented then i would asume they will fill it first then also spray that not to much of a pain to do ...

Gutted for you Gary!!! Really wish you all the best with your insurance and getting it fixed etc.....

Maybe worth asking if he'd be prepared to pay for the repair, that way no markers on the car and no risk of it being written off. If he is young, it may well be better for him too, as his insurance will go thru the roof after that!!

the young cub is fine just a little tearfull with the shock of it all

that will have bent the aluminium impact bar behind the bumper pushing n bending the hangers for the zorst hence the droop, but def fixable wouldn`t have thought that`d be written off. easy for a body shop, just need to check the state of the bar. actually u can see the bar in the pic. gutted for you.

driving the zed home I thought the rear end was shaking a little but it could of been me:D

Sorry to see mate, glad everyone was ok, time for a new respray so it all matches ;)

:duffer:

He is with a company called Quinn Direct who take on a lot of teenagers and I have heard they are hard to get money from so could take ages to settle:mad:

so glad you and your son are ok gary, thats the most important thing, but gutted about the car, yes quinn direct are notorious for delaying a pay out on claims, i would get an estimate from a good body shop for the repair of the damage and then go talk to the driver and his mother and convince them of the benefits of settling the claim themselves , like he will keep his ncb, and no personal injury claims, etc plus you wont have a qd accesesor trying to say your car is not worth repairing, but get the cash quickly. if that fails you will have to go the other route.

i know if it was one of my kids i would be telling them how lucky they were to meet such a nice person, even gave him tea, but as i always think it could be one of my kids some day in that situation

cheers Lisa zed needs a new respray anyway;)

Mine was loads worse that that, but I saved her:D

glad your all ok, similar damage happened to mine, fairly easy repair for a good bodyshop, but the lip on the rear panel is tight with the bumper so extra car needed when repairing this, i feel it would be written off if you went through insurers. Good luck with it.

Gutted for you Gary, but on the bright neither you, your son or the other young lad in the Clio were injured.

I heard that Quinn Direct are hard to get money from if your claim is over €10k but yours should be less than that so you should be ok.

They shouldn't write it off, its an easy fix there.

Glad everyone was ok and well done for dealing with the little so and so so calmly and nicely

Think I may have been a little harder on him :mac1: lol

 very sorry to hear that Gary.

glad everyone is ok and good luck with the insurance!

I know you will have the zed ready in no time ;)

Thanks for the replies all, had a phone call from Quinn Direct to go ahead and get it valued for repair so did so at a company just down the road from me they were not to keen on imports as they had a skyline in and waited two months on a panel and when it came it was the wrong one but they went ahead on valuation and said all there parts would come from Nissan uk so they are talking about fitting a uk rear bumper a o/s rear exhaust and what ever else the zed needed so hope they dont add this all up and right it of:(

So let you know how I get on I so much want this zed back on the road as I know it will be very hard to replace
