Well, it would appear that in some poeples eyes we deffinatley do. I went down to the "Goodwood Breakfast Club" supercar sunday yesterday and out of a row of 9 of us from HJC I was the only one directed into the "supercar" parking area, the others were ushered off to other parking. I was parked with a DB9, XJ220 Couple of GT2's and an R35 and I have to admit that I had my smug face on:D. All in all, it was a good morning out. Did anyone else venture there?

Z32 is wide, low and sleak enough (especially from the front end) to look like a supercar. IMO, it's not. A DB9 is not. It's a GT. I like the term coined by Autocar and Motor...I think "junior supercar".

Depends the older people look the more respect they get ,its wrong but the youngters are looked at as boy raceres with posing cARS

IMO yes it is.

Out of it's peers, I think it's the only one with the elegance to be a supercar. Obviously the performance is another matter.

The Zed however id say is more of a sports car than supercar. With the number of tacky bodykits i keep seeing on them and "boy racer" types that buy them, it gets a bad image at times.

Its purely a media invented term, and since it was the media that described the 300zx as Japan's first supercar, who are we to argue ;)

It is quite clearly any car which bares the Superman S on the bonnet lol... But seriously, if you look at the thread with the optional extras as posted by Dave, you can see that the 300zx was well ahead of it's time in many ways, & it isn't just with the extras, but the Performance of the car, and the gimmicks like the HICAS, the Z was quite clearly the start of something special over in Japan and there little Early 90's Supercar Era was born.. and also I am happy in the knowledge of knowing that a well known Supercar manufacturer Lambo' used it's headlights in it's Diablo :D tbh, i'd hope everyone here is passionate about there Z's anyways to think in their own right that it is.. A Supercar :D

I was only joking too with the angry face. I do have seven of them. Always wanted to be a jockey when I was young but grew too tall too fast when I hit 12.

the zed is deffinately a supercar but peoples opinions are dissalusioned by tw@s that ruin zeds with horrid mods.

I believe it to be a supercar (as per my own personal definition). As Legrath has said it was described in the media as Japans first supercar.

 

Also in the Encyclopedia of Supercars publication issue 19 of the early 90's which reviewed classics, performance and racing cars they term it a "sophisticated supercar". It was a head of its time.

I would class it as a supercar for the masses, its as close to a supercar you can get made by a non exotic manufacturer such as Lambo, Ferarri, Porche etc. It used cutting edge design techniques normally only associated with those kinds of manufactures, low bonnet, low angled screen, flush lights low drag etc. These were unheard of in a relatively cheap mass produced performance car on conventional production lines, and also had more technology than most of those manufacturers had put together, and engine capable of 400+ bhp with minimal mods. Supercar? Absolutely!

IMO - its a Supercar. More specifically a Japanese Supercar of the 90's.

 

Just because the modern Supercar such as a Ferrari Enzo will trounce it (just!), this doesn't take the fact that its a 90's Japanese Supercar away.

Just because Today's finest hot hatch will blow away a 50's Supercar, doesn't mean that it isn't a Supercar.

The Zed is quite good on fuel, Quite cheap to service and insure, easy to drive every day. No we dont have a super car but we have a "power to the people car" which always seem to come from our friends in Japan. Super car slayers when modded and love them for it. The only car i would ever want unless offered with the new GTR.
