Both doing about 45 mph, then we both booted it big time, he was just behind me, then he overtook, his car was screaming, he diddnt seem to pass as quickly as i expected tho, I was only running 14 psi, when I get it mapped by JD and set at 1.5bar it may have been a different story, must say tho, them 911's are dam quick, was gutted cus that was the first race I lost ha ha.

I do like the look of a porker, but.....

I'd rather my 300 all day long!!

People look at the person in the porker and think "small c**k, small brain, no life"

People look at a 300 and think "oh my god, look at that!!!"

Al.

or nice datson :D

dont get me wrong i love the 300s with a passion but sorry if someone gave me a new 911 turbo i know what would be sitting on my driveway ;)

I can see your point for a datsun, 240Z, 260Z, yes!! Classic car.

Modern cars look too plastic imho.

Al.

yeah u wont come close to a new 911 turbo, a friend of mine has his re mapped. 4 wheel drive monster. Youl have to be running something very serious to keep with it especially in the twisties.. those vvc turbos will spool so low down THEN the internal turbo clutch system thingymagig will engage and open them puppies up even more, amazing new turbo technology.

You will soon keep with him matey, after some quality track days, he will have some competition!!!!

Im not talking bout driver experience but actual car setup, the porsche turbo would kick my zeds ass.. at the mo anyhow :D

**** porkers, there's to many of the damn things on the roads yes they are quick but for 150k they bloody better be, i'd rather have my 300zx tt for value for money everyone looks at it and gets more attention then any one of the 1000's of porkers on the roads, the Z's are a rare sight. The damn things 17yrs old & still put many newer quick cars to shame. We can't beat them all. i'am 22 and glad i have my Z32TT now, instead of working half my life to go a liitle faster & be 147k down.

That's spookily close to my spec! LOL

Loads of the same bits as on mine in rides :)

I'm still running 14psi too as every time I think about mapping it properly something breaks!

Chrs.

Same tubs and injectors as mine.

If I was you Leigh I would run 19 psi on it rather than 22. at 19 psi you will be running 85% cycle duty on those injectors.

Yes the tubs are good for 24psi but I would only run between 21- 24 on race fuel. Injectors will start to max out at 21 ish.

if you car is anything like mine was. It's gonna be really rapid at 19psi anyway.

What turbo's and mods have you got to be running 1.5bar / 22psi???

Quick those 911 Turbo's!

Had a fairly even race with the Turbo model from around 3 or 4 years ago :)

Kicked the arse of a Cayenne Turbo S shortly after, rolling from about 40mph to 100 ish as I overtook it :D

Im not running at 1.5 bar, im running at 14psi, when I get it mapped by JD i was thinking of having it set at 1.5 bar but as stuart (smw1) says, his is running at 19 psi which leaves a tidy amount of a safety margin which I will end up doing as I want it as reliable as possible because its my every day car.

A GT2? I would've saved your petrol Leigh they are one hell of a bit of kit

Not as good looking as my zed though, I love it.

As i have said before, they are not that quick!!!!

Matey, don't turn the boost up too much, make your 300 last and don't blow her.

£150k versus erm... lets say for arguments sake £10-15k(BIG difference), and you come a very, very close second!!! In time that 150k will be a quite a few pounds less. (am not talking about weight!). Now your 300 is worth a certain amount to you, and it will remain that amount for many years to come, if you keep her in good form, it may increase, and i doubt the old porker will increase!!

Al.

Im not going to blow her, she means too much to me, when I get it mapped, im going to run it at 19psi max.

Id rather my zed too, but if someone gave me a gt2 I wouldnt say no, probably use the porker as my everyday car and use the zed on nice days lol

Lol, I dont no why they are called porkers, i jst copy everyone else, probably easyer than trying to spell porsche.

Yes I know you were running 14psi that's what you said in your first post.

I was thinking it was another one of those "I'm going to run 30psi on my stock turbo's" posts :D LOL

Don't think that you're car will be any more reliable at 19psi than 22!

The car was designed to be running at standard boost with a standard engine.

Even if your engine is built well enough (and there's no gaurantee it is) from my experience EVERYTHING ELSE will break! LOL

Suspension, brakes, clutch, gearbox, prop, diff, axles etc etc etc are all under far more pressure than ever designed for.

Just remember Stu's carbon prop broke in no time!

That's partly why I haven't rushed to get it re-mapped and the boost turned up.

That's where the Porsche has the advantage in that it can be used all day long like that.

I saw a Nur Spec R34 at Ten Of The Best doing standing starts over and over, dropping the clutch flat out all day long and smoking 4 wheels off the line and thinking if I did that 3 times in my Z the gearbox would be scattered all over the runway!

Having said that, the reason I stick with the Z is there's nothing else with this kind of performance for the money even if it costs me a few hundred every couple of months and it does get looked at like no porsche ever will.

Where I live in Harrogate I can drive through town and see 10 Porsches, 5 Astons and a Ferrari or Lambo every weekend.

Nobody even notices them.

I remember parking my Z in Leeds on a saturday night once on the main street full of bars.

When I came back to the car to head home there was a load of people standing round my car and I could hardly get near it.

Got loads of complements on how nice it was and questions on how it drove etc.

I looked behind my car and there was only a bright orange Lambo Mucielago parked there.

Nobody was even looking at it! :D LOL

I thought 19psi would be a reliable as all components would be well within their safety limit, what is the point in spending all those thousands of pounds to run stock boost and not have any advantages over similar cars that have not had the money spent on them? My car hardly ever gets hammered, only on occasions when im overtaking and having a bit of fun with another car and I have never raced it around a track, looks like I have a bit of thinking to do.

Quite agree, but just get ready for more and more bills! LOL

but i also think that is the wight of our cars that makes them (un) reliable . imagine if you shave 100-150 kg from 1610 kg (3550 lb) 2+2 or

1496 kg (3300 lb) 2 seater wich i think ive achieved already (but we shall see yet).then its lot less wight to move about a therefore lot less thinks to break .

but only future will show ..

No wonder I got beat, cars just been in for a boost/vac leak test and had about 5 leaks + a massive leak from passengerside turbo, all leaks under the bonnet are now sorted, its just the turbo now, its being hooked up to a smoke leak detector soon to pinpoint the leak, once that is sorted it should feel like a different car.

I anhilated my mate`s m3 (R reg) the other day, from the lights 0- ish in a thirty (naughty i know, sorry) He was 20 car lengths behind at least, We pulled over, and he said he `red lined` it in every gear and i just pulled away from him, Come on!!!!

We had a play for a few miles in France in Lisaf's Z with a GT2 and a GT3 neither could shake us of and we was fully loaded, as just been to le man and they had just a sports bag on the back seat. We all pulled into the same petrol station !! lol

Nice bits of kit though.
