My car idles odly and holds back a bit now and again, I have cleaned the temp sensor and tried again but it still acting up, does it take a while for the ecu to get used to the cleaned sensor or do I need to reset it?

Thanks

To reset ecu, diconnect battery for an hour, this will reset it.

If still having idle issues, check your tps is set correctly, and your idle control valve,, also worth doing a throttle body clean, and AIV vales.

Cleaning the TB's will make a big difference, so to will the other stuff.

I have cleaned the throttle bodies, the car has not long come back from zedworld where it was on the conzult so I know the tps and the idle controle valve is ok, do you think disconecting the battery will help?

Reseting the ECU makes the self learn reinitiate, its takes a while for the car to settle down again, a good trip with a couple of hard runs usually sorts it out.

Will an hour be long enough with the battery disconnected for the ecu to reset? Once reset, its best to take it for a small run?

Yeah should be afaik. Yep the car will smell like its over fueling to begin with then it will adjust as you drive, an A road or dual carriage way to stretch its legs once warm will do it the world of good.

Hope its sorts everything! if it doesn't i'd start working through the manual trouble shooting guide.

could be either hunting or irregular idle from your description!

Best of luck.
