Rev drop

Hi All,

When I start my car from cold and pull away from a junction, the revs drop off as though it's going to stall - happens just as I apply pressure to the accelerator pedal. Hasn't stalled as yet, it's just annoying. Any ideas anyone? It's fine when warm.

90 TT Auto Jap, SE chip, AVC-R and Blitz SUS.

Advice appreciated as ever.....

I would first...

* Check the Throttle position sesnsor connectors (Clean them).

* Then look for a leak (or listen for one) at the AAC valve. Possible gasket leak.

been reading this off another post as i am having a very similar problem. every morning on its first run i start the car up fine and start to drive off fine. 5 minutes into the drive the revs start dipping to almost 0 every time i press the accelerator pedal. After another 5 minutes it seems to stop for the rest of the day... it is very annoying as it often stalls.

My car was sorted with santa's help and we stopped it smelling of fuel from the exhaust and looked at some various fuel pipes to tighten. But i have noticed the car smells of over fueling again since this problem has started.

organising holiday so have not replaced jubillee clips for (possible) boost leaks however is there anything else apart from the list up top i should look for?

i would say almost defo a PTU issue, i had exactly the same problem, car hesitating and revs dropping from junctions, changed the ptu and never done it since

good thing i have a S2 PTU in the boot :-)

just waiting for the piggy back loom to arrive.... from USA 1-2 weeks!!!!! :-O

when your PTU was playing up did you have intermittant engine misses at higher revs or under load... i do and usually lasts for 1 second under high loads... it feels like what appears to be a miss because the whole engien stops pulling for split second (perhaps one second most) then it starts to pull again for a bit longer before doing the same.

hoping the PTU change will correct some issues :-)

no i never had that, although i only had the fault about 2 weeks and dont drive the zed very often. the main issues i had were the hesitation and from time to time the car wouldnt start, would only turn over.
