Did a job for a woman last week, she wanted amtico throughout her new flat so we did the hall, kitchen/dining/living room and bathroom and it looked stunning and she is very please with it.

She also wanted carpet in her bedroom but never decided on the carpet until mid last week so i ordered it and it comes in this friday.

Gets a call on friday the day she moves in to say why have we not put a door back on or the kitchen plinths, i explained to her that i had already told her than she would need to get the house builders to trim them as they had been cut to the floor boards!! but she played the "poor little old lady on her own" trick so i went there on saturday and trimmed them all, i even plumbed in her washing maching to help her out.

Anyway gets a call today from her saying she does not want her carpet done by us anymore as she feels let down as it wasnt done last week??? WTF and to cover the costs of getting someone else in to do it she has cancelled the cheque :mac1:

I'm sooooo mad, we have gone out of our way for this woman and she's trying to rip us off, christ sake we were doing the carpet on friday and she cant wait 2 days

I know we can sue her but its the hastle and the job was bloody hard work AND this is the job is tw@tted my thumb on so i'm not a happy bunny.

Whats wrong with people today??? :(

Sorry to have a rant

Unlucky mike, it's a bad situation to be in.

Just get a solicitor to send her a letter, stating that she is liable

for the work carried out, put the ball in her court.

She has probably done this type of thing before by the sound of things.

I've known of window companies to get into a 'non-paying' customers house

on the pretence of 'service work', then remove the opening sashes and not

return them until a payment/agreement is resolved!

I guess we only hear when it's the bad workman who stitch people up, you never see TV programmes about people who won't pay up for work :(

Fingers crossed the letter will make her think twice and pay up what you're owed. Makes me sick that anyone thinks they don't have to pay for work once it's done.

thats well taking the pi55 mate. IMO she knows exactly whats shes doing and its got nothing to do with the reason she has told you

Gutted this happened bud but by the sounds of it, if she didnt have the carpet excuse, she'd have found something else to avoid paying you! Take it to the lawyers!

ive been in touch with the solicitor and he just said sue her she is trying it on.

just get me with the way we have have gone above and beyond our remit to help her and she does this!!

i guess the small quiet ones are the ones to watch out for!!

Sad thing is cos of her, you might not be as helpful to the next person but who could blame you when things like this happen

exactly, we have always gone the extra mile for our customers and thats why most of our work is from recomendations but this woman takes the pi55.

tbh if we could remove the flooring without damaging it and reuse is i would be there now ripping it up but it would just damage the flooring and the plywood is ring nailed down which is a bitch to uplift LOL

i saw this on the back of a contractors van before

Love a lot

Trust no c*nt

and always get your money upfront

Hope you get it sorted mate these people really piss me off

i would be going bac\k for the flooring wether i could use it or not, noone would enjoy anything of mine that wasnt paid for, and remember, one step back from the front door opening is classed as an invitation into their premises

your a big bloke wink wink

Im a carpet fitter myself, i/we dont accept cheques without a garentee card, the way i see it, if youve got money in the bank to write out a cheque, get your f*cking lazy ass down to the local cashpoints which are everywhere these days, and get me my f*cking money!

It's about the only reason I don't work for myself. I would be continuosly stressed waiting for some cnut to pull a fast one like that. Some people can be such arseholes i hope the twat slips on the amtico and busts her false teeth 'orrible sod. Hope you get it sorted dude

sorry to hear about that mate , and as said i think she knows what she's doing :nono:

"The law has long held that cheques should be treated as if they are as good as cash. If a cheque bounces through insufficient funds, you have to serve a notice of dishonour. If the cheque is actually stopped, you do not. You can then sue on the cheque, and there a only a very limited number of defences (icluding fraud, total failure of consideration and some cases of misrepresentation). Therefore it is usually possible to get summary judgment in the court, hence avoiding the need to go through all the normal costly steps in litigation."

I have a very good firm of solicitors who will charge just a couple of quid for a "letter before judgement". Have only ever served these to companies, but I don't see why the same shouldn't apply to an individual.

Good luck!

Steve :)

(PS. What a miserable old c\/nt!)
