Might be worth trying to ebay it??? Stick a reserve on maybe and it'll only cost you a few quid.

TBH I think Ebay is your best bet..... always nice to sell a Zed to another Club member, but sometimes it doesnt always work out that way.

Also got to remember, these forums hold ALOT of history about our cars, what went wrong, what broke etc.... some of those posts may put peoope off. (but in a way, at least nothing is being 'hidden')

Ebay or pistonheads - give it a go :)

Hey Allan,

Personally I'd have it fixed and sell it for its real price. The problem with selling "as it is" is that no-one will pay a true worth price if they have a "perceived" major repair to do.

If you E-bay it with a knocking bottom end you will only attract bids for pennies from Ebay-ers who just want something for nothing.

Just my humble opinion though mate.........;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

well i may have a week off next week, if its not gone by then-i will strip the sump off and check it out

IMHO and you will most likely take offence to this but I think it was worth about 3.5k before the engine fault and about 2.5k now.

Speaking to other members about your car (And not in a bad gossip slagging off way just talking to each other in general Z chatter about all the zeds on the forum) the overall concensus was that it was well overpriced and nothing but trouble, most said wouldn't touch it if it was free.

And the latest engine problem seems to slam the nail well and truly into the coffin proving the touble stigma right:( .

Those were my thoughts from the start of the sale and are echoed by others when asked "what do you think of Sella's car for sale?" They all come back with "Looks great but wouldn't touch it myself, he'll have problems shifting it at the price"

Now this is complete honesty and no doubt I'll get shot down and barraged with trator for saying so, but then people dont like it when the truth is spoken out loud.

I think your best bet would be get it to Z world for an engine transplant (Or knocking fixed wherever) and get shot on ebay for 3.5k or as it is for 2.5k

I really dont see you getting any more than that.

Sorry dude its not ment as a snipe, just trying to tell you how it is.

And anyway, I know naff all about Zeds and everyone hates me anyway so what I say means feck all and can be ignored anyway :duffer:

TBH mate i think your 3K is just about do-able.

Don't think your engine was uprated in anyway before was it ?

Jeff does a fully serviced and gauranteed engine swap for 1.5k, so a 3K car with the new engine fitted is now pretty much set up with a lot of peace of mind. That's something we don't often get when buying a zed that's best part of 20 years old.

So in short, providing any prospective purchaser sees it in the way i've just said it, they could be on to quite a decent motor and a far higher chance than the average punter, for trouble free motoring. ;)

Good luck which ever way you do it.

Allan, personally I think your best option is to drop a 2nd hand engine in and resale complete. It may also help satisfy those buyers that were unnecessarily worried about the mileage as well.

I honestly don't think you will get what you want for it with its current engine condition. :(

I know of 2x Widearch strosek Z's quite well that were purchased for around 3k fully working , not saying they were comparable to yours in condition or spec (in fact one turned out to be a complete and utter shed, despite being well known and praised on the forum  . The other one was a nice tidy car example and a bargain), but it does show that the widearch is'nt necessarily as strong a selling point as some believe.
