Have been aware of the smell of fumes with both the z32,s i have had whilst driving around with the t tops off,but never really bothered me.

But tonight i had just cleaned the car and had a text of my daughter to pick her up from her mates, well car just washed and had the tops off cleaning them so instead of jumping into the galaxy sped off in the z.

When i collected my daughter and drove the mile or so back she kept moaning about her eyes stinging and the smell!

Is this usual?

Is it the type of exhaust system i have, both cars had a mongoose system that only just protrudes from the rear bumper.

Or could it be coming from under the bonnet??

Any suggestions?

Before any body asks the car has had pcv valves and i have noticed now and then a little blue smoke, but no where near as bad as before we changed the valves.

Probably fuel leaks under the bonnet.

Exhaust fumes don't generally make your eyes sting like that and if it was leaking up front you'd be hearing it blowing.

probably one of the small hose clamps leaking, i tightenend all mine up while i had the plenum off to saved messing about later on trying to get to them

I thought it could be a fuel leak but its quite a sweet smell not like petrol.

I am going to remove plenum in the next few weeks, and will check that out,but we replaced all the fuel pipes the last time the plenum was off with the metal flexy type ones so unsure really:confused:

atf fluid is sweet and stings the airways when burning off....auto box, hicas or power steering usual suspects

Well not much to see really.... not any leaks visible! but i have noticed a lot of soot deposit on top of my rear bumper:confused: i think this may be due to the style of exhaust i have though, like i said before the mongoose tips barely pass the rear bumper.

I also get this, i know my car runs a little rich anyway, my other thought was fumes from the engine bay

Dont get it with mine mate, i also have mongoose cat back.

Was thinking,i cannot be related to the exhaust not coming out far enough have you seen the length of the standard pipes:shock:

It is usually a sign that the engine is breathing a bit due to wear. I had this and only when the targas were off. When the engine was overhauled it stopped.
