had low compression to begin with, was checked by chris at z tech, anyway, on my way to work this morning (4:45am!) and could hear a tapping noise from the engine:eek:, was nearly at work by then so took the chance to make the rest of the journey taking it very slow obviously. within a couple of mins the power rapidly got worse and the tapping got very loud!!!then the engine cut out on the A40 had to jump out and push the thing while still in motion (got to get in the gym i was f***ed) luckily a fella in a kitted up mx5 with a turbo who also has an rx7 (he knows about breaking down lol) stopped and helped me push it to safety.

looks like i need a rebuild sooner than i thought?

any ideas what actually is wrong by what i have described?

How long ago did you take it to z tech? Did they do anything to the car or was it just a check.

they put the car on the consult, everything was fine exept it was in safety mode ecu was reset so now out of safety mode. this was done about a month ago.

If the engine has no compression does that mean its goosed?

could be alot of things. at best the bottom end shells but sounds like its abit worse. more like the bottom end completely or a piston.
