i am a bit curious about buying a Z with over 100,000 miles on it should i be or not... if the car is in good nick should i buy one or is it the case that once it reaches 100,000 miles on the original turbos you have to spend some money and get them re-furbed. waiting for your awnsers YOU ARE GOD.lol:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

The size of these engines if well maintained they can go on forever

There are some on hear that have over 150K on the clock with std turbos. So they say :)

Maintenance is everything with almost any car. If its been serviced when its supposed to of been and well serviced at that, you will find they will do a LOT of miles.

Obviously even with a high maintenance record the resale price will still be lower than most just because people want low mileage.

90% of all Zeds are well over 100,000 miles fella regardless what the odomiter says ;)

Ignore the miles just look at the overall condition of the car.

The 70k mile thing for turbo replacement is a complete myth. If you find a good one that's been well maintained, the engine and turbos will last. I use the US 300zx forum lots and there are plenty of guys approaching 200k with original engines and turbos running fine. Infact there's one guy approaching 300k with original turbos on it.

Fuel octane has no affect on turbo lifespan.

I think he meant general engine condition and chance of getting Det.

My advice is this:

1. Buy a car, high or low mileage it makes no difference.

2. Start saving.

3. Car WILL break down big style.

4. Spend every penny of your income and savings fixing it.

5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 on a monthly basis.

****! Where were you 10 years ago when i needed yer :D

Unfortunately I'm only just learning LOL

I've probably spent the same in 9 years.

So we can conclude:

Owning a Z will cost you £2K+ every year on average :headvswal

If only I could have paid it monthly by direct debit instead of a grand every time it broke down  LOL
