lol what am i like, does'nt that defeat the object, would'nt they be better mounted at the front, although Nissan prob know alot more about this then me, as i did'nt know that was the air con rad.

If they put the intercoolers on the front, it would restrict airflow to the radiator / oil coolers.

Whereas, since they're fitted on the side, it allows air to flow over them and the radiator / oil coolers.

because the othe one is ok, i just want to stop it smoking, as i am currently saving for a turbo upgrade. The smoke is coming from drivers side exhaust more, so unless the pipes twist i'am assuming its the drivers side turbo, gonna pull engine out and swap turbo unit, then continue saving to upgrade both turbo's for bigger ones.

Just want to stop the smoking asap. Anyone got any suggestions, i dont have the money to just buy 2 turbo's off the shelf and dont want to rebuild it as it would only be fitted for a month or two.

Hi Mikey not sure about the refurb, can i ask what you are planning on doing with your turbo's, where is a good place to get them re- conditioned for around 200, never knew it was that cheap.

you can change the turbo mate without removing the engine. save you time mate.

The repair kits from ebay can work very well also.

But you will need a sand blaster to clean the body's up .

But not difficult to do.

ok well let me get myself down to Z world to confirm it is the turbo that is causing it to smoke & i'll get back to you, so i can fit both turbo's without having to pull the engine as that would be spot on as i only want to stop the damn thing smoking lol.

They are at the front, they are behind the two grills in the front bumper as far forward as you can get.

yes you can replace the turbos with the engine in place, and no you dont need to remove the heads. The passenger side being easier than the drivers side.

Its a bit of a headache to do though, which is why most will pull the engine and thats the recommended method.

There's a lot of other stuff goes wrong at this age so by pulling the engine you can easily replace pipes and other bits that will be in a mess.

If you're sure it's just one turbo and it's a temporary fix then it might be worth trying to swap one with the engine in I suppose.

Hope you've got small hands and tough skin though, you'll be swearing all through the job and wishing you'd pulled the engine in no time LOL

Smoking could just be the PCV valves need replacing? don't cost much to do.

There not that bad to do with the engine in. dont get put off.

I recomend changing them without removing the engine.

You must have hands like a 5yr old bud.I cant get my hands in that small a space.Fair play if you can do it though.
