Anyone had this before?

The explanation mark in a circle light is on when handbrake is applied, but doesnt go out when handbrake is off, the light only goes dim.

It did this this morning and I stopped car and restarted and all went ok, but every other time today it has just gone dim.

Fluids are fine?

Any ideas? cheers :)

Will have a look at work later cheers, I have taken the dash bulb warning light out for lamp circuit, so I kind of ruled that one out, cheers

Anyone any suggestions? It cured itself after a few days but now its back again (after all this time) and been like this for over a week now, thats why I never posted the solution. Datascan cable dos'nt pick up the fault either.

Cheers

would say that the switch to activate the warning light is partially sticking causing the light to stay on albeit lightly. Find the switch give it a clean and a damn good spraying of wd40!

Cheers bud got round to this last night and didn't work, still the same :( bump :D

Do you have a turbo timer by any chance? seen this before where the timer is wired into the handbrake switch ( which brings on the same light) and a fault inside the timer causes this, if not check the connector plugged into the side of the brake master cylinder maybe a bad connection.

Many thanks with your posts this morning Jeff, I thought of the timer myself yesterday when on the road so turned it off and fault still there.

Will have a look at all connections to all the fluid levels later

cheers

I've had that before on another car, thought it was a bulb out, but a shitty conection on a sidelight iirc, cleaned it up and sorted...

I cleaned up the connector on the bottom of the reservoir and it was full of thick white yoghurt stuff, managed to get all out eventually but still the same :( but noticed that when the connector is off all works fine so now I'm thinking it maybe the internal level sensor?

the shitty white stuff was put ther to stop rust ,but that aside cars this old need the plugs to be free of anything.the only thing i can think of is a bad earth somewhere on a conection thats if you have no bulbs out and have note fitted anything of late.do these cars have for instance a brake pad indicator to let you know when brake pads are low and if so that will be that but the connter plug is dirty ,bacically if its not a bad earth or a bulb it will be most cert a rusty or doge connection

Will check all bulb connectors later well at least at back. The pads dont have a wear sensor on them mine are all almost new anyway, don't think the shoes would have? but I have changed the rear drums anyway.
