Just took the Z out, didn't notice it at first, but looked down and saw my Speedo was sat at 0 and the milometer wasn't moving (everything else working fine). Turned round to take it back again and looked down and suddenly it started working again.

Are there known faults with speedos doing this? I'm going to take the binnacle off in a second to check that all the connectors are snug and 'clipped'.

Yup. I hate not having things working. Once you've taken the dash apart the first time, it's so easy to pull it all apart the second. I could probably take out and refit the clocks in about 10 minutes now.

@ 8ace, took me about 35 mins the first time I did it. It's easy enough to do. 2 screws holding the binnacle on, this then pulls off. Unscrew the pod switches (2 screws each side on both sides). Pull out from bottom and up. Unclip connectors. Unscrew 2 screws inside each pod, either side. Unscrew 2 bolts at the top of the dash shroud and pull the lot away. There are just 2 screws at the bottom of the clock unit one either side. Unscrew these and the clocks are ready to be pulled out. You then have to unclip the connectors from the back and it's out. Very easy job if you do it in the right sequence.

thankin you kindly. Might have a dry run soon by changing the km face soon then. It's been in the glove box since I got the car last year another job on the to do list
