when I take my foot off the accelerator to stop, i.e at a junction or traffic lights the idle speed first stops at around 1500 rpm and then slowly falls to around 700 rpm. Anyone got any idea why it doesn´t fall directly to the set idle speed of 700 ?

any input as always greatly appreciated :)

Slow reaction usually caused by the aux air valve needing a clean.

You'll probably find the idle speed needs reset once its clean. There's a procedure to do it. Anyway its good for the planet too to have the slowest steady idle speed.

i remember a thread years ago where the same was happening and eventually ended in a jammmed open throttle and a wrecked zed.....the small L shaped tube next to the throttle cam worked its way out and jammed on the cam ....worth having a look at that

think it happened to legrath cam cover breather pipe was the culprit IIRC

i dont know if it helps but mine does that since i conver4td it to manuaul think its because have no neutral switch

Steve...checked for that one everything okay there ...but thanks for the input :)

terry, mine is a manual, not converted so I think I can rule that one out...but cheers :)

I think after reading up on the subject a little bit last night that Jeff is spot on with the air valve.
