I Love this picture genuine 02 reg plate legally attached to a 1991 zed, took it a few years ago before a cambelt change.

fancied an irish plate with ckz incorporated in it ,seen some a few years back

always thought you could'nt make the car look newer though ???

Correct you cant put a plate on your vehicle which is younger than yours but you can put anything older on. It all depends on when the dealer registers your vehicle. We have 2007 build cars coming through having 09 plates on them. Must have been sitting in a field.

The zed is a 1991 import, however it came via Jersey having been registered there for six months.

When the new owner bought from an importer here and went to register it at his local licensing centre they said they needed to contact Jersey authorities, some one there confirmed that it had been registered there for 6 months and this was taken as first registration of use (??) and hence the UK authorities had to treat it as a new car and so it was issued the 52 plate ( was current then ) the owner told me when he was called to collected the paperwork and saw what reg. he was been issued he said NOTHING paid the fee and walked away ( quickly ) with a BIG grin on his face...lucky git!

Good old Jersey - gonna have to register mine there for a bit

ditto :hyper:

why would you want your zed to be that late registered?

At the very least it opens up a lot more person registration options, often see good reg plate for sale but cannot have them on earlier zeds.

Jeff TT

its nothing to do with jersey etc now and again the dvla simply make the mistake of issueing the reg plate of an imported car as the date of import not the date of manufacturer, ive seen a few skylines, supras etc with 03, 04 regs etc

well i thought a zed would fail this test thing that all cars 10 years or less have to pass didnt they do that

your right, a car thats under 10 years old to be imported needs a model report and the 300zx does not have one hence why no 99 spec ones have ever been over here but thats just for customs, once it passes you then register it with the dvla and its them who now and again cock up and put the plate on the car with the import date as the manufacturer build date LOL

So if DVLA have say put a K plate on an import that was manufactered in 1992 but imported 1998 you cannot have a plate newer than a K unless DVLA messed up and say put a R reg on it ?

Interesting we have at least 3 customers with 99 spec zeds, one is a black pearl T REG with tan coloured interior twin air bags, carbon dash and window switches, we have been working on it for 3 years and he has owned it 6 years, came through an importer in London in 2003 when it was 4 years old.

There were some 99specs bought into the UK before the SVA 10yr rule came out

exactly but not many

aye unless they have messed up your stuck with a k plate or older bud

Mike

I don't think peach's car was 99 - it may of been a late model but i dont remember it being 99.

However craig david has a genuine 99 spec :)

Craig David is/was the only forum member with a 99spec

The next newest would be Russ with his 98 Slicktop

Still got it and it's going good (touch wood).

It may be a '99 but it's also an auto, na, lwb, cloth interior. :nelson: But I still love it!

I'd thought about getting a 1999/2000 TT imported but I think with their rarity in Japan and the current exchange rate it'd be £14K+.

Anyway, I'm an old family man now so the NA's probably fast enough.
