when i rev the car it sounds like the exhaust is blowing down near the pasenger side turbo

 

 

had the Nissan up on a ramp today.... it sounds like its coming from the back of the turbo? is there a gasket that joins that bit to the exhaust? i know its not the lower part where its held on with three bolts, the bit i mean is the part directly bolted onto the turbo?

 

its sounds like the noisiest tappets ever but its 100% not the tappets?

 

any ideas I'm worried?

There's a (metal) gasket between the (down)pipe bolted directly to the turbo and the turbo.

 

What happes quite often is that one or more of the 2 nuts and 2 bolts (standard turbos) that connect this pipe to the turbo are missing, causing an exhaust leak between the turbo and downpipe.

After a while the leaking exhaust gasses will blow the gasket to pieces, causing an even bigger exhaust leak.
