Hi, just bought my first Zed, it came with a profec b spec 2 boost controller, and was just wondering what all the settings should be on for standard boost?

Featured Replies

Im sorry for asking this daft question, but why would you have an aftermarket boost controller to run standard boost? Or are you using standard for low boost then more for high?

Cheers

It came in the car, i think its running standard boost as it is, i just dont want to blow up things too soon.

It does run a JWT chip which i assume is for more fuel when running higher boost, also it features a low and high boost setting which can be adjusted easily, which ill probably use from time to time, just dont want to run extra boost everyday

Those things are rubbish. Fancy selling it? :D

they r not rubbish!! they r a great bit of kit.

what u need to do is.... find out what ur engine is up too, i.e. tubs, air filter, exhaust, injectors, fuel pump, engine, ic's, etc, etc...

then u can adjust the boost best for ur set up.

Nobodys got any ideas?

Another option is take it to a local RR and have it tuned on there, probably the better option anyway

i got some settings off mine, drop me an email if you like and i'll dig em out, but they do vary from car to car to get it accurate.

Could give you some general settings that will get you close enough, but tbh every zed is different and its best to set it up properly by following a procedure :

SET = The desired boost setting (as a percentage 0-100% (OFF to MAX Boost available)

GAIN = Boost response/consistency. Too low will mean its slow to boost and too high will cause spiking

SET GAIN = Is the lowest pressure that the greddy will wait for before building boost. You want this to be around 3psi less than the boost setting your after.

First change it from Kpa to PSI according to instructions.

Put the Set Boost on around 40% , and leave the GAIN at 0. Put the SET GAIN on 3psi less than your desired setting (so if you want 14psi then put it on 11psi).

Take it up the road and in 3rd gear see what boost your getting. Increase the SET Boost by around 5% till you get the desired boost.

Then you want to increase the gain, start at 5 and go up in 5's. You want to find the point where it starts to spike and then turn it down a little. You should'nt need to go over 20.

Once your getting the correct boost with no spiking you can set the Warning a little above your desired boost setting.

Oh dear, its on 26%!

It sometimes flashes red and makes a crazy bleeping sound boost.

I think ill have it on a RR, a mate of mine i went to school with has a small tuning company (Matt Thorne) I think he distrubutes megasquirt ecu, or makes them or something?!

TBH im just scared of it running lean, but hopefully the JWT should be preventing that from happening

  • 1 year later...

dunno wot ive done to mine, tinkered with it the other day without a clue wot i was doing, now ive got hardly anything on low but when i switch to hi setting.....

was showing off a bit yesterday to a mate, did about 50 in 2nd gear and the back wheels started wheelspinning. not sure who shit emselfs the most me or him

I have the Greddy E-01 not sure in the differences, but when mines flashes red and beeps it's overboosting past the limit I set it at. When I first got my zed it overboosted to 22.8 PSI and popped off a fuel pipe so be careful :/

Matty will love playing with that...he put the megasquirt on my hillclimber 265 bhp at the wheels not bad for a 21 year old NA :1eye:
