Whilst replacing a set of hicas arms we noticed the halfshaft bolts where loose, so loose in fact the shafts had separated, a few more miles like this and the bolts could have continued to loosen and drop out, the thought of the shaft flailing around at 70 mph is horrific, no reason for them to come loose other than they had not been torqued up correctly from previous diy work ?

Must admit as a diyer myself, not tightening a bolt correctly is my biggest fear!

I wouldn't worry too much, I've paid many professionals over the years to leave nuts dangerously missing or loose!

All depends what kinda person the mech is really. The garage i take all my cars, the owner is very diligent and if a nut or bolt comes off - it goes back on, and properly i might add. Nothing is left off etc...... Whereas the guy that works on his forecourt could'nt give a fvck and will do anything for an easy life!

Guess you just gotta make your own judgements lol.
