Mate has a prob with his Zed, looks like injector 4 has gone.

when disconnect injector connector when running nothing changes to engine tune.

tried swapping plug and coil pack to prove.

 

Also tried cleaning the injector connectors.

Does removal of the injector require plenum remove as the 2 screws seem to be under it.

 

How long does this take? Just wondering how much a garage will charge for this work

 

Also anyone selling an injector :)

 

How much do they cost new?

Remove spark plug and coilpack, then connect them all back up and rest it on the top of the engine (so its all plugged in as usual, but just not in the cylinder), and turn engine over with the key while somebody looks for a spark at the tip of the plug. Its best to pull the fuel pump fuse out (green fuse closest to engine in small fuse box next to Brake resevoir), so that engine does not start.

 

Do not hold the coilpack or spark plug while doing this.

 

If you swap the CAS for another make sure you mark its exact position with some sort of market pen first, its important it goes back in the exact same position otherwise timing will be out and that you tighten the bolts up before starting.

Wip out the coilpack and spark plug, balence the end on a Wrench or something metallic and turn over you should see sparks hitting your wrench! If nothing then Spark plug is dead if there is a spark then it will be the Injector!

thanks for the offer mate, really appreciate that - its not my zed its a mate up the road.

I'll ask him if he needs help - think he may be taking it to a garage.

Have you checked that you are getting a signal to the injector??? It wont work without one;)

Wiring gets really brittle with age on these, like Pete says if there is no instruction getting to the injector it wont open. Mine has a bad connector on number 3 back on the drivers side - give it a wiggle and it comes back on all 6. Injector is fine though.

Whats the voltage reading accross the injector plug and can i test the injector for resistance as well? I have the same problem with No. 4. I need a new loom really as it's all really brittle and suspect this is the case but hoping for a dodgy connector or injector really as it's a lessor job than the loom!

 

Have tested for Spark and it's fine.

try the "faulty" injector connector on a working injector eg swap it with another one close by!if this injecto still works then you know your getting a signal! & it is the dodgy injector.....please corect me if i'm wrong?
