Hi all,

ย

Just a quick question which im sure will be answered easily but on my 300 when the vehicle is cold the performance is excellent and when the vehicle comes onto + boost the turbos sound great like a boiling kettle/whistling sound. This only happens on normal driving. If i go full throttle this stops. The question is tho when the vehicle is at normal operating temperature the sound almost goes or sometimes vehicle difficult to hear? is this normal?

I get this too. I try and not use the turbo's when cold, but im guessing its slight wear on the turbo shaft thats only apparent when cold

It could be the above, at guess though you may have a small leak as I believe you should not get any whistling sound at all. As the engine warms up and the components expand the leak gets less... It is only a theory though... Try getting hold of a boost leak detector as this will help pin point any problem areas... Good luck!

Has the boost been raised on your car? If so then maybe you are hearing normal turbo whistle, apparently the 300zx TT has the nick name Flying kettle because of its excessive whistle. Don't know how much truth there is in that though.

My car whistles loudly coming on to boost, but my boost has been raised.
