Have got a one of these coming in the next couple of days :hyper: what I need to know is the exact position that it sits on the tailgate, so if you have one fitted can you give me the measurements you have on yours.

cheers Paul

When I bought mine I was told that you just line it up to what you want. I'm putting mine so that the rear of the spoiler is in line with the end of the boot. Then it's just a case of making sure it's equal on both sides. Hope that helps mate :)

Make sure each end of the spoiler has an equal gap at the bootlid, mine was uneven and left marks on the paintwork before it was removed to be resprayed, ill try and get a pic up later.

Right, here we go......

First of all find the exact center of your boot lid and mark it (using masking tape)...

attachment.php?attachmentid=47431&stc=1&d=1239806118

Then measure the distance between the legs (the inner center points) of the spoiler and half this measurement, then mark these dimensions, in roughly the correct place, on the boot lid...

Now place the spoiler onto of the masking tape so that each leg is on the outside of the marks that you've just made, and adjust the distance from the rear lip of the boot lid to a position that looks correct to your eye (mine has it's legs 3.5cm in from the rear edge)...

Now draw a pencil mark around each leg (onto the masking tape) and this will form the basis of it's exact position, so this is VERY important to get correct!

Now put some masking tape on the bottom of each leg and draw a line that dissects each screw hole exactly and continue to draw this over each end of the leg. Now return the spoiler to the car and transfer these marks onto the masking tape and then remove the spoiler and draw a line that joins each legs two marks. You now should have two ellipses with a center line through each.........

Now measure the distance between the screw holes & edges and transfer these measurements to the lines you have just drawn on the car.......

Right you are now ready to drill your holes!

Be careful and take your time here, after all you wouldn't want to ruin your boot lid! Also you will be drilling through a double skin for some of the holes.

Once the holes are all drilled, and I'd suggest putting some rust inhibitor around the drilled area, and you have removed the tape, it should look something like this...

Now for attaching the spoiler. As mine didn't come with any form of seal, I was advised to put some silicone on the base of each leg, so i did...

Right, carefully line the spoiler up and place the bolts through from the inside of the lid and twist in a few threads so that it'll catch but is no way tight just yet (you'll get better results with a helper on this stage)

Once you are happy with the fit, tighten up all four bolts...

You may have a problem with the position of the rear wiper motor fixings, so you may need to remove it temporarily to gain access...

Once you've tightened all of your bolts up check it visually, just to make sure, then put everything else back together and you are finished!!

Best of luck, and I hope this is of use.

Cheers Dave, thanks for taking the time to put this up in so much detail for me. Might be worth making this a sticky.
