Right...

I am considering gutting the interior to save weight.

If mine was a 2 seater the interior would be long gone.

However as mine is a 2+2 on occasions it is nice to take people out in the back but... when i get my car back from the garage it might be a tad lower than it was before and also running 18" rims. 295's on the rear which may rub with people in the rear.

I am expecting mixed comments here like dont do it will look silly, im not too bothered about the look of the interior as it will be serving a purpose. Besides windows are tinted and cant really see in.

I know i can loose allot of weight by gutting the interior but my main concern is most of the interior will come from behind the front seats e.g. rear seats and all trims and carpets etc. The worse thing i can do is make the rear end too light and loose all my grip and make the handling suck.

I could go to a level of removing door cards and all carpets and trims from centre console etc. but not too sure how far to take it.

I will also be looking at light weight front seats in the future.

mmm... what to do? any comments and thoughts?

Please purely look at this from a performance perspective and not for looks.

ODYSSEY PC680

Its a lot smaller than a regular battery, I actually have it mounted behind one of the boot panels (although this particular SWB panel has more room behind it than LWB panels)

I think it was off ebay, although there are loads of shops that sell them online.

Its not much good if you have a big ICE build (amps and subs), but its excellent otherwise. It still starts fine after leaving the car for more than a week.....I think the longest I have left it must be 2 weeks and started with instant turn of the key)

oh... what have i started... :D

i can see it happening, someone is going to jump on the scales in the buff, no pics thanks haha.

rebuilt engines prob weigh less than stock ones down to the forged parts but on the down side i have a big front mount intercooler but to be fair that isnt that heavy and the stock ones are fairly heavy, bigger rad what else have i added bigger turbos mmm... hids

i have removed the horn, well... kinda removed it, fell off over a speed bump.

oh god, i have bigger ic's too and bigger tubs and rad very soon. :( ooo pistons are lighter though :D

I went to strip some bits out of my car last week in preparation for the nurburgring, but most bits of interior that are easy to remove weigh f*ck all anyway. I ended up leaving the bottom of the rear seats in because they're just a lump of foam and it looked shocking without it, I just stripped out all my ICE and the back of the rear seats, and cleaned all the rubbish out of my car which probably saved 10kg alone.

I've ditched them all.

show off... :D

i dont know if i dare. what i can and cant do when i get my car back as it may void the warranty on the new engine build.

removed front clutch bleed point and hose

Ah, nice..

How do you do this? Not just for weight saving, it's bloody ugly!

Pah! You are but beginers.

:wack::wack::wack::wack::wack:

LOL

Thats pretty similar to how my car looked a year ago, although I did'nt remove my heater boxes.

I purchased mine as a rolling shell and stripped it right back to a bare shell and rebuilt.

What are your plans ? Complete bare shell rebuild...and I take it from your username your doing an engine swap?

lol i like to see you keeping the door panels for their great insulation? or is it so you can put the windows down on a sunny afternoon? lol.

Flipping eck, the power to weight would be awesome... if you had an engine?

Ohh but I do have a engine:tongue:

j1mmytt - I can pick each end of the shell up on my own now.

Legrath - yep engine swap. RB30 on your noisey TT gearbox.

Since I took those photo's I've started to put some stuff back into her. It's got a heater box now, modded S13 200sx heater box with a Z32 heater motor & the A/C box removed. but there's still more to come out, most of the boot floor is going to make way for a fuel cell.

It's going to while before she's finished,. Hopeing to have plenty of go in her when she's done, so will be worth the wait.

It quite a big project, & I'm getting married in July, so funds dictate the speed that I go at.
