Hey,

Ideas for what i can get? possible something that'l keep me mildly entertained!!

Open to any ideas, around the £2K mark.

Going to be doing a 400 miles week, so something that'll hopefully survive a year or more.

Cheers,

Ste

You're a fan of the old clio sports issac lol. Never been in one actually! whats the one to go for the 172?

I had the slightly older version - thats the newer one, but it was the same engine - 172bhp. Thats a great price BTW if its ok that is.

I believe they do a 182bhp version - but that is newer still and you dont really stand a chance of getting one for £2k.

They're quite a light car but with a 2litre engine and go like the feckin clappers! They handle really well IMO aswell. Also they're not that small inside, they are fairly economical, not bad to tax so its just your insurance you'd have to look into.

What can i say, i really do love those cars - i genuinely would have one again! :nana2:

You will want to be looking at either petrols up to 1.4 or 1.9td diesels. The diesel would be quicker. The Newer usually the better for economy.

I'm running around in a Rover 220SDi, which is a 2.0Ltr Turbo Diesel (43 mpg mixed) mines on a 99 T plate, but you could get a newer one. It's not too bad either with 105 bhp, and surprises a lot of people who just think it's a 1.4 crap bucket (it's actually a 2.0 crap bucket!! ) It's got a lot of design flews, but at the end of the day it's comfy and quick/econimical, so as a daily hack it'll do me for my average 300 miles a week.

Really don't want these lol! :nelson:

I drove a 306 peugeot 1.9td in my first year and loathed it! :wack:

It's either that or i sell my zed and put towards something better around the 8-10k mark. any ideas?

Thinking along the lines of an S3 1.8T because the insurance is half what i'm managing to get quotes for the zed at the moment!

All help welcome, because i start a new job in two months and need to have my own car sorted by then!!

Ste

i bought ourlass a 1.4 clio rt sreg for £900 and she gets 180 miles to £20 of petrol, quite nippy too

I thought you were after summit that still puts a smile on your face. No matter how good they make a modern diesel, a 1.9 is not quick! Great if you just want MPG tho :)

lol, there's a exception to that if i can find it!

2.0 tdi with propane injectors pushing out 300rwhp! :D

I'm having trouble justifying running my zed and another decent car. Really don't want to get rid, but the amount i've actually used it is, looks like i've got to either sell up or store it for two years untill i hit the magic twenty five as far as mr insurance is concerned. :xxx:

When i look at what i could drive in all weather such as S3's and R32's etc, and they're still £700 cheaper on insurance and not a massive difference in performance like for like.

So it's either a diesel and the zed or sumat decent and no zed :x:

Good call, was looking at one of these earlier.

very tempting and gives a better impression at work, as i have to use it to go to meet customers, suppliers etc.

out of interest, do you know how long this kind of diesel last for?

if your doing alot of motorway miles i would steer from Clios as they will be revving their tits off past 85mph!!

i would suggest a Vectra B they are cheap as chips pick up a decent 2001 reg for less than 1500quid no problem with under 100k

EBAY EXAMPLE

When i had mine Town driving easy 35mpg and motorway could max at over 50mpg!

And that was with a 2.0 petrol, plus maintenance is a peace of piss and parts can be found anywhere for cheap too!

Hope this may help!!
