DAM DAM bugger, Lump in road just ripped out my oil sump plug :(

Could have been worse as it just skimmed the sump, the thread on the sump plug adapter is stuck in there which means the sump thread will be fine :) juts ordered a new sump adapter and sensor again grrrrrrrrr.

Will post up pics soon. really close one... Im going to post up some pics of the damage and the massive lump in the road which has obviously taken out quite a few cars, you can see the grounding marks.

The council will be hearing from me very soon.

Why not just re-locate the sensor to stop it happening again?

I believe there's a 1/8 blank on the filter housing you can use.

Yes BUT i have had it plumbed there in the past and it didnt read correctly, it would give out a low reading when on throttle due to the oil passing past too quickly, when in the sump it is always submerged in oil giving a nice constant reading.

Anyway the sensor doesnt hang lower than the sump it sticks out diagonaly just above the lowest point of the sump, it was only luck that it hit the sensor off and missed the sump by a cm, the road lump flew passed the right side of the sump... any closer and it would have been a disaster.... SO it doesnt matter where it is positioned. the chances of it happening again are very slim.

The council was doing roadworks near me and the workers left one nite having dug up the road but instead of making a nice smmooth ramp where they had dug up the road they left a 50mm sort of wall in the road, it was like driving into a kerb at 30mph! It buckled my 18's on my Bravo and unfortunately they were the last set that the company made. I rang the council sent them letters and rang them constantly for a month before i got a cheque for £1200 to but some new wheels! I was well chuffed and got some 19's to replace the 18's and sold the two unbuckled wheels for £500.

A council worker told me that the stupidity of the roadworkers in leaving the road like that for just 18 hours cost them over 100 grand in repair bills!

Get on jimmy do your best, the roads are in a disgusting state these days ! don't need speed bumps the amount of potholes stop you speeding !!
