Is there a common reason why the headlight washers would not work (UK car)?

The normal windscreen wash jets work fine. If I press the headlight washer button with the lights off I get absolutely nothing. If I press it with the headlights on, I get the click of a relay and the windscreen wipers go, but nothing from the headlight washers, no noise of a pump or anything.

Any idea where I should look first? I know they're hardly important, but I'm the kind of person that likes a car where everything works that's meant to work!

Thanks,

Phill

They are located on the base of the washer bottle, if you have the plastic splash engine shield underneath from the bumper to drivers front wheel remove it.

Might need to turn wheels as 2 x 10mm nuts are in the arch.

MAy just be bad connection or blocked up.

a seized pump is a common failure of the headlight washers.

that's how it should be, the headlight washers only work with the lights turned on.

I get the windscreen wipers going though when I press the head light washer button, is it meant to do that? Seems like something might be wired wrong to me!

yes, that's what it's supposed to do.

the pump/washers are quite powerful (when they work) and some of the washer fluid will also get on your windscreen.
