Hey guys,

I joined this site a long time ago just to look at the lovely images.

Im new to zeds but ive always loved them. I think there one of the best looking cars around, I dont know about the mechanics of them though, but im sure theyre excellent seing as theyre japanese.

Im at uni now with an E30 and a R5 turbo, and i want another toy :D

But, this is the problem im having, i cant get reasonable quotes.

Im 21 btw.

Also, are there such things as TT SWB manuals, because if there are they seem to be rediculously rare.

Damn! good call, thats the best quote yet, just over 1K

Im thinkin that if i do seriously want to look for one im going to have to sell the other 2, Our drive is starting to get clogged!

swb tt's are all imports, try adding 3 drivers with decent no claims to the policy, it gets cheaper quotes

Even better. under £900!

Im getting quotes on tt manual uk cars. Thanks for that

Why do all the new Zed people turn up in Bedford after i left Bedford for uni!! FFS!!! lol!! yeah i know what your going through im also at uni and 21 (22this year) and insurance is a biatch!!! If its an import youll cough up more money but remember to Insure it correctly (Import or UK model) as will void insurance!!

Im currently with post office (my cheapest quote by 150quid) and am paying just over 1000quid (Import Manual Twin Turbo with Alloys declared)

Happy Hunting!!! And dont forget about Targa Tops :)

Hi, im up in leicester at uni, I thought they were all targa tops, i hear slik top aswell, i didnt know there was a difference. and ive seen some proper convertibles.

Welcome aboard ;) oh come and live in the IOM, i only pay £150 a year fully comp :D

smithy

lol okies then well ill help you out :)

Targa Top - 2 piece roof that can be removed (same as old mr2's)

Slicktop - Fancy way of saying hard Roof, ie like a normal car!!

i spent 3months looking for a SWB (2seats) Manual, Twin Turbo Targa and didnt see 1 come up for sale! so i went for the next best, everything in a LWB (2+2) front and back seats! They are cheaper as more common and suprisingly practical!

in Zed's you can have TT (twin turbo) or N/A and Manual or Autos! Jap import or UK spec! Targa Top or Slicktop and even a few Convertibles (uber rare) and Short Wheel Base or Long Wheel Base!! hope this gets you started on a search and on a personal note... Everyone knows Black Zeds are the best :p

Oh and not to Double Post but... Im in Stafford (like 60miles away) if you do pick a Zed up would be cool to meet a fellow Uni Zedder :P

I seem to only like black or white cars, thats all ive ever had. Its good to know there are alot of variants out there to choose from. Thanks for that info.

LOL - just buy stella's, best of both worlds - black AND white :D

I'm also insured with elephant, they gave me the best quote by £1500 . I had my zed for some time but couldn't get a reasonable insurance until I came accross elephant.

If you are going for a UK model try Swift Cover as well. They don't insure imports but damn cheap for UK models. I insured my beemer with them and best quote by £450.

Hey stella, you didn't gave me that tip... I couldn've gone cheaper :p

Oh BTW, if you want I can help you to get a fresh Jap import (mods, am I breaking any rules??) like mine.

Well ive just got my R5 and i want to have some fun in it first. I think until xmas ill be keeping that. Might get myself a christmas goodie then if i have the money :D

Elephant gave me the best £839 on a manual uk model tt, im well chuffed with that. My current insurer said that i wouldnt get touched until i was 25!

firstly welcome to the club, and yes as said prob the most cheapest varient for you at the min would be an older uk/tt

i was horrified at the price my jdm n/a cost me compared to what i could have got a uk/tt insured for but hey ho:rolleyes:

good luck with the on coming search , but youv'e got a nice toy for now anyway

(the car i use daily is a'n old Ford):D

Cool, thanks. Is there much power variance in imports to uk models. Does one have bigger turbos?

Yeah the 5's fun :D its not even road legal yet though. Ive only had a lil go up and down the road. But my daily is dead so its looking to be upgraded.
