Can anyone help clutch works fine gears all ok just that clutch pedal is low down would like it a little higher if poss.:)

Featured Replies

When you say the pedal is low down. Do you mean it has a lot of teavel before engaging the clutch? I had this problem and got help from on hear. There is an adjusting rod high up behind the clutch pedal. On your back and head first into the foot well and with a torch you shall see it. Think it was a 14mm I used to slacken the lock nut and a pair of plyers to turn the rod. Anticlockwise shall shall make it emgage sooner.

The 300zx Manual states that the clutch should start to engage about an inch off the floor, you dont want it much higher than that. over time it will start to bite higher up as it wears. You can however have it adjusted to bite a little higher up but you must make sure there is enough play at the top or it will not fully engage and could cause premature clutch wear.

Thanks for help/advice guys:dance: adjusted clutch pedal better now but what a b......r to do.

I can picture it now, Head and shoulders on the floor on the drivers foot well. Both feet on the floor outside the door and arching backwards to try and get a spanner and a pair of pliars on the adjustment bolt.

Been there before. You can tell these cars were build by Japanese and not americans. Most of the jobs on the 300zx, even maintainence jobs require small women like hands to be able to get in parts that the normal hand can not reach.

At least you've got the sun shining, great time to work on the car if any :D.
