Front indicators

I have just purchased a front passenger side indicator unit however the elctricla connector is a different shape it has come of same year as mine a 1995 does anyone know when they change or do you think lights have been changed to uk spec im not sure !! mine is a rectangular style connector with three pins the one i bought is square [ish] with two pins

any help please

    With reference to above does anyone know where i can get light unit with 3 pin rectangular connector, as i would rather not go down the road of cutting wires etc electrics are not my thing
