Well today was the day I said goodbye to Silver Streak.

I took the car up to see JD and picked up the new owner on the way.

We tinkered, we mapped and we mapped some more then we tinkered some more (Well JD did :D).

After some very nice mapping, we dyno'd the car.

At 14psi we were hitting 500bhp, we continued to map and up the boost with 19psi as the safe target. Unfortunately at only 16psi the dyno maxed out before the car hitting its 530bhp limit. So the rest of the mapping had to be done on the road which was fun to say the least. The car is now mapped at 19.5 psi and I can safely say it's rapid to say the least. God only knows what BHP it's running now at 19.5psi. At 16psi the torque was well up there with the bhp.

We got back to my house swapped the V5 for the cash and I watched it drive away up the street with the new owner behind the wheel. It was a sad ending to a successful day. Gubby111, I wish you all the best with her and pray for many maintenance free miles for you. Keep in touch. ;)

Big thanks to John Dixon and Good luck to the new owner Stewart (Gubby111).

Chris.

From what I've heard after speaking to John on the phone it's a VERY rapid Z and that's putting it mildly. Apparently a realistic 550bhp is more than likely what it's actually putting out...! Shame you had to let it go Stu but good luck with whatever you go for next :)

feel sorry for you having to sell up mate but im sure you will get another zed and make it like silver streak in time :D

Man i would of been so tempted to keep it after that power increase. :(

What turbos were they again? 600BB's ?

Congrats on the sale buddy. But I know how gutted you must be to see all that effort and passion being taken away.

Chap got a seriously awesome car!

only 530's according to his rides.

that is easily one of the best motors in the club and Stewart is a lucky chap!!!

Nice work Stu, JD certainly knows his stuff when it comes to mapping a Zed.

Am sure the new owner is bloody well pleased and you to, to see such good figures ;)

Which dyno place did John use for yours mate?

Cheers

I think John was quite surprised with the results as well. When we maxed out the dyno we had to do the rest of the mapping on the road. It was then that I giggled like a little girl when I was asked to put my foot down in 3rd at 2k rpm and hold it there until the red line. What looked to be a very long straight just seemed to disappear quickly :). we checked the spool up rate and it actually spools up quicker than a stock manual.

Not sure what the name was but it was his mate dale's place. He had a supercharged land rover on the dyno before us which only hit mid 200's. He reckons the dyno was giving low bhp readings due to a faulty rpm monitor.

Steve :)

It did cross my mind but the new owner was with me and also looked fairly excited, so I know it's gone to the right owner.

Gubby111 has the sheet but it's missing about all the data between 4500rpm - 7500rpm (i.e. it's just a flat line at the top because of the dyno limit of 530bhp ). I was trying to talk gubby111 into attending the surrey rolling road to get a real idea of what it can achieve.

Blimey, congratulations on the sale and comiserations at letting it go after all the time and hard work.

All the best for the future Stu.

Gubby111 got a bargain, that's for sure.

One very quick Z and lovely power delivery from those sport 530's.

It's kinda inspired me to get back on with mine again now!

Great work from John as per usual by the sounds of it :D

Sorry to hear you've finally said goodbye to her buddy, i hope you'll stick around. Won't be the same without you.

Ah mate, you've warmed my heart :D. Thanks mate, I'll stick around, my membership doesn't run out until October, I've got loads of parts to sell and I'm very interested to see the progress that Gubby111 makes with it.

I WAnt some BIGGER tURBOS NOW AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

was that 500 at the fly?

was that 500 at the fly?

It maxed out the 531 limit at the fly at 16 psi with torque to match.

It's now mapped to 20psi.
