I know them well cos i bought 3 wheels off ebay and had a bitch of a job finding a fourth lol :wack: But hey ho i found it, refurbed how i want em and i'm well happy with em :D

they are recirculating dump valves mate, note that there is no trumpet, instead there is the fixing you attach a hose too which is normally used to plumb back to the intake

im not sure what this all means are the dumps broke or not? should i be getting the whooosh? my cars manual

Dump valves that 'whoosh' are supposed to be atmospheric dump valves, meaning that the sound comes from excess pressure being released into the atmosphere when open.

Yours are recirculating dump valves as opposed to atmospheric dump valves.

Recirculating dump valves are supposed to be plumbed back into the intake, like standard dump valves.

The reason yours dont make much noise is because they are not supposed to, they will but not like the 'whooosh' you are hoping for id imagine.

Did they used to make a loud noise and now they dont?

Yes mate,

if yours is a manual you should be getting the sound,go to a reputable z mechanic in your area and get him to check it out.

Cheerz

no Pete not long bought the car, so are they fitted correctly from what you can see? im surprised the guy at performance centre didnt pick up on this he didnt recognise the make right enough said they were japanese things

they look like they are fitted ok, so long as the original ones have been removed and the little hose from the top goes to balance bar.

But because they are not meant to make any noise dont expect too much from them bud.

Personally i would replace them with proper atmospheric dump valves.

If you need to find the originals, they are under the centre panal between the headlights, under the air filter assembly, either side of the auxillery fan.

I can take a picture of some if you need one.

By the looks of those mate those are ARC bovs and SHOULD be dumping to atmosphere, what noise are they making? I dont think ARC's make much of a noise anyway but you should be getting some form of woosh noise.

hi there the car sounds quite awsome an performs like a rocketship i dont know the bhp but it needs NO more. I did want the dump valve whooosh however so am slightly dissapointed yes they are "arc" they look like theyve been on it for a while it has a very cool new looking blitz cone air filter thingy saw same on ebay for 200 odd quid that will be making a noise too do you think its worth while replacing the hoses i may go back to the performance centre guy seemed certain it should be whooshing
