Hey all, I'm going to see a guy tomorrow who is breaking a TT manual, and I'm removing the clutch pedal assembly and booster, just wondering, has anyone got any pictures of it on the car, or any tips for removing it? Reason being, by the time I get there, although he said his garden is well lit, it's still gonna be pretty dark, so any help would be appreciated :-) I'm hoping i don't have to remove the dash, I've got pretty small hands, and I don't mind laying on my back for a while (who doesn't, haha), so that might help... Cheers...

You'll need to remove the Clocks (and pods and surrounding trim) to get to the bolt that holds pedal box in place at the top. You will find it partially obscured by part of the interior wiring loom. Its a 12mm I believe.

 

Its then held in by the 2 bolts that go through the bulkhead to the clutch master cylinder, you just need to undo the 2 nuts in the engine bay for that.

 

Takes a fair bit of wiggling and puling to get the thing out once undone.

Sometimes I find it easier to remove the 4 bolts to the clutch booster and undo it that way, then undo the booster seperatly, but thats not always the case and can be quicker just removing it in one.

I dont have any pics...but it partially obscured by the large wiring loom behind there, you can see it from under the dash looking up as well, but its easier to reach up top.

I replaced mine without taking the clock assembly out, It is a real Bustard to do the job on the best of days so take your time and walk away from it if you have to, and come back after you had a cup of tea if you need to.

good advice, but many cups of tea and 3 days latter the pedal is still in the car, but atleast i havn't kicked sh1t out of the car yet

If you can find a pic of behind the clocks I can show you exactly where it is

The top bolt you are on about can easy be reached from uner the dash without removing the clocks etc. just need a 12 inch 3/8 extenstion bar and 12mm socket move the harness away alittle and remove the 4 bolts to the servo unclip the pedal pin and the bolts under the bonnet and she will pull out with a bit of wiggleing. top tip for refitting the box is to remove 5mm from the top edge of the pedal box so it then easy clears the loom on the refit.

yep. thats it ! if you unclip that white plastic clip holding the loom to the bracket and bend the bracket up a bit you can get a spanner on there....a ratchet spanner is ideal.

you can reach that bolt from under the dash without the need to remove all the clocks etc.

Yeh, I did mention that , I've always found it easier to reach from up top but It can be done both ways.

 

The trouble is Im usually doing it with the car on the ramp with limited door opening room so I take the easy route and save the blood headrush LOL I hate working upside down under the dash....heater matrix jobs are a real headache.
