While the zed is off the road thought i would junk all the usual stuff AIV EGR etc.

 

Anyway managed to bypass the EGR with the engine and gearbox in the car :nana2::dance: Not bad for a novice.

I looked at doing it. but read the guide and thought better of it... i'll wait for the rebuild, and do it then...

Yeah cutting the exhaust manifold pipe was chewy, my knuckles are shredded.

Just a quick technical question to them in the know.

 

The egr solenoid connects to the air intake/intercooler pipe and also a pipe under the driver’s side throttle body. Do you join theses up with some hose or blank them? I have removed the solenoid itself.

You have to blank them off.....

 

If you check out the link i posted above and look through the EGR removal it'll tell you what you need to do :D

EGR = Exhaust Gas recuirculation.. basicly the system puts exhaust gases back into the engine to be re burnt.. which if you ask me is not a good idea...

Actually, EGR has it's uses ;) It can be used to lower combustion chamber burn temperatures and reduce detonation. The theory is when it feeds in inert (burnt) exhaust gasses there is no oxygen contained within and thus it's unable to burn a full charge. It effectively reduces the capacity on the engine ;)

 

Still, it hasn't stopped me getting rid of it but I just wanted you to know the risks :)
