Getting vibration through the steering wheel under light+heavy braking at high speed

not at low speed tho??, in all honisty my brakes dont work... if i had to anker up on the motorway id be dead and so would others, hence im not driving it for a about a month when its in the garage having all the bodywork and the brakes done... and the gear + diff oil done and the heater matrix plumd in (bloody cold!!) so my question is do i just need new discs or are the calipurs dead?

what state are the discs and the pads in ? have you had a look at them, checked if you have grooves in the discs etc ?

the pads are virtually brand new, they'v never been great the discs are standard, its a 92 model is there a difference in discs? its fine braking from 40mph but 70 + its terrible if not dangerous i mean they just dont work! there crap!

to be quite honest with you it took me some time to get used to the brakes as i was expecting them to be better than they are on a powerful car like the Z. I wouldn´t say they don´t work, but good is something else. Saying that though they are kind of progressive..i.e the more you panic and the harder you push the pedal the better it brakes. I put brand new OEM disc and pads on..wasn´t much better ......so, are you sure they don´t work ?

if i stamp the vibrating wants to rip the wheel outta my hand it wasnt this bad when i baught it lol!

Have you got a warped disc? that would cause vibration when braking. If it is a warped disc you might be able to get it skimmed if it's not bad.

yep that's the first thing I would check.

Make sure they machine it on the car

Does the vibration become apparent at a certain speed?

I have a drivers side front wheel that is not concentrically true. Too great to be balanced out, which means I get a vibration between 65-70mph from it. Not good for the wheel bearings i'm sure but hey.

if i brake doing over 55mph it vibrates the more i brake then instantly goes away when you relese the pedal, where the hell do i get brake discs skimmed an where/what are these bushes?? how do i check for play?

I personally would just buy new discs for the sake of your's and others safety if your discs are warped, ive just done the same and upgraded them over stock also.

I had exactly this issue... Replacsed discs etc. better for a bit but still not right; replaced the tie rod bushes and hey presto... check em out mate, if they're still the original OEM item then they've probably had it... You could upgrade to a set of powerflex bushes if you felt like it...

Yep, Mike will do them, all brand new OEM parts; if you want upgraded you could try danny @ DTA.

Adjustable ones are a nice idea but me personally, I'd get some proper ones from Danny. Not sure I'd trust cheap and cheerful off Ebay for such an important part ;)

Thats the Dutch DTA site you have been on. Danny runs the UK side of the business but Im not sure he has his main UK site finished, you can check his other site - http://www.smithys-place.co.uk which has the the tension rods and brake parts on or PM Danny@DTA or ask a question in the DTA traders section - http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=39
