Ive noticed an oil leak on the garage floor i cant see anything from the top managed to squeeze under car coming down on gearbox bellhouseing any clues?

Featured Replies

I believe the most likely culprit will be the rear main oil seal if oil lools like its coming from the gearbox bell housing.

I currently have a leak from this which is slowly getting worse. It is a gearbox off job to replace, even though the seal itself is very cheap. I will be changing mine at the same time as my Manwell conversion!

Mine has just been it to Zedworld and one of my problems was that i had an oil leak, they give it a good going over and saw that two of my pullys were worn causing my cam seals to leak, take the cam cover off and see if u can see any oil on the inside, the oil slowly leaked down making it impossible to see where it was comming from.

thanks, but if the crank oil seal had gone surely the oil would'nt be near the top of the bell houseing would it? im taking it to a freinds pit i was hoping it might be rocker cover gaskets thanks

Dont guess mate.

get the car to a garage and let a mechanic check it out there could be many areas that can cause the leak you speak off ..

no one can say on the internet.
