Hi Guys,

Hope everyone is well :) Just wanted to stick up some details on this years British Drift Championships. Would be great to see peops along :D

The series has grown massively over the last year and this year is expected to do the same. Going sideways around a track at 100mph is one of the most fun things you can do with a car and its great to watch as well!

If anyone is interested in getting more involved and fancies passenger rides or anything like that then let me know and I'll either try to sort something at a round or you can come to a practice day and I'll take you out.

And details of the rounds:

The British Drift Championship 2009.

We are proud to announce the 2009 calendar for the British Drift Championship. The 5 Round 2009 Championship has been put together with great care and detail to ensure that the BDC continues to evolve in a positive direction and represent the best multi-class drifting championship in Britain.

Central to the 2009 BDC calendar are events which offer our competitors maximum seat time in a relaxed yet professional environment. The unique atmosphere that our teams and drivers enjoyed during 2008 will continue to define the BDC as we work to involve a larger international field of drivers across all classes.

BDC 09 is structured to take in both demanding 100mph tracks and smaller more technical venues. As a result, BDC 09 drivers will be tested, challenged and judged across all aspects of drifting competition.

BDC 09 Venues are also chosen with our spectators in mind. This years venues will offer a safe yet close-up view of all of the action and the 2009 BDC paddock will be arranged in order to invite our spectators to interact with teams, sponsors & drivers.

It is with great pleasure we can now reveal the dates of the BDC season 2009 and we look forward to seeing all of our teams at round 1 to kick-start what will be a historic year for British drifting.

Round 1 - 11th April Donnington Park – The Launch Pad

As one of the main attractions of the ITS (International Tuning Show) ISTS - International Styling & Tuning Show The BDC will be staging our first event on a purpose built track. This will allow us to create the perfect layout for record speed entries and fast flowing corners.

Britain’s new home of Formula 1 will witness a drifting competition unlike anything previously staged at this historic circuit.

Round 2 - 23rd May Llandow Circuit - South Wales

The BDC makes a welcome return to one of the driver’s favourite tracks of 2008. With a tight sections followed by fast flowing curves this venue has everything to test to our drivers.

Round 3 - 13th June Lydden Hill - Kent

The BDC returns to the fantastic venue of Lydden Hill in Kent. This venue saw the BDC host the first ever drift competition at this venue in 2008. The spectators will witness drivers battling for top honours on the fast hills of Lydden and the drivers will require every ounce of power and skill to master this demanding course.

Round 4 - 29/30/31st August - Norfolk Arena King Lynn (3 day drift extravaganza)

The smallest, but the most technical track on the BDC calendar will see drivers given more practice than has ever been known at a UK drift event. Battling inside the purpose built oval will generate an electric atmosphere with enthusiastic crowds just metres from the action. This event will offer three days of drift action. Friday will see the track open to all competing drivers as a full day of practice, Saturday evening will see the BDC Teams battling it out in front of the always excitable audience. The Pro class will be given Sunday all to themselves to prove they are the King of the Arena.

Round 5 - 19th 20th Sept - Llandow, South Wales

The BDC make a return to Llandow for the 2009 Season finale as part of a double header drift weekend.

Saturday hosts round 5 and the finale of the BDC series.

Sunday hosts the running of the British Open, and as per 2008 this will be an open invitation to any drifter holding the minimum of a BDC semi pro licence. A top 32 final will see twin drifting for 4 hours during the finals.

The BDC wishes all its drivers all the best for the coming season and we look forward to seeing you at round 1.

Any driver who wishes to compete in the BDC from any other series please contact us via bdc@live.co.uk

Many thanks

The BDC team.

*Get ready for the Launch!*

Ladies and gents

The BDC is pleased to announce more details of Round 1 of the 2009 championship.

On Saturday 11th April 2009 Round 1 will take place at the Launch Pad at Donnington Park as part of the International Styling & Tuning Show.

We are working in conjunction with Live Promotions to bring you this event on a purpose built drift circuit.

The track layout will allow first corner entry speeds in excess of 100mph.

The track will incorporate one of the largest and fastest corners ever to be used on a drift track in the UK.

The International Styling & Tuning Show will attract approximately 40,000 people over the weekend which means the BDC will be witnessed by more spectators than ever before.

Further details and information will be released in the coming weeks.

Ladies and gents, get ready for The Launch!

Many thanks

The BDC Team

Why dont you come along to a practice day Paul? Pod days are only £60. I help instruct on the weekend ones when I can so could help you out. All you need is a cheap RWD crapper like a Bimmer or S13 , weld the diff and you're good to go!

So who is going to the tuning show? How much are tickets and do i need them in advance?

cheers :)

cant i use my zed ? when and where i will try

Of course you can :D http://www.dwyb.co.uk/ at santa pod is the best place to try it out because there's not much to hit and plenty of space for learning. Its also nice and cheap, although most drift days are pretty cheap compared to track days.

hmm can see the track sessions and stuff but I just want to know how much it is to get in on the gate and camp!

Just spoke to them and its £22 on the day per day!!!! or £55 for the weekend

£18 / £50 advance

But if your part of a car club its £30 for the weekend, I mentioned 300zx.co.uk but they dont have any bookings for us although you can still get the discount on your own as long as your bringing a car to show and fill out the right form.

What is everyone else doing as I'm not paying £50 but would like to do the weekend!

any tips on how to drift??? obv not on standard roads :D

Just get yourself to Santa Pod with your car and some spare wheels and tyres. 300zxTT arn't the most practical of cars because most of them have heating issues if they havn't been rebuilt but if you're confident its ok then they do the job. By far the most practical thing is to get a £500 bmw or s13 that you're not afraid of smashing up. I havn't been helping instruct at SantaPod since moving house but Lex and the boys always have free instruction available. Seat time is the key, it takes loads of practice.
