Hi chaps, Ive got a 93 tt

I know its been covered on here before but my issue seems slightly different. I get a tap from the engine when its cold. When its warmed fully, the tapping disappears. Sometimes though, the sound reappears even when its been on a long blast! Like sat at the lights for example. It also varies in volume too. Sometimes its very quiet/no sound at all but sometimes it sounds like the old Ford kent engine! Will be checking my oil level at lunch but its just a bit alarming thats all. Any help would be great, cheers

prob still the lifters - the noise is returning when the oil pressure drops at idle... change the oil a couple of times in quick succession - using either a diesel oil or a capful of atf fluid in with the first change... worked for me!

Check the oil filter is genuine Nissan item and if not change it along with the oil for a good known brand of 10x40 semi synthetic and be prepared to change it again in say 1000 miles or so.

Non genuine filters have been known to cause oil pressure issues, especially the white Unipart one`s hence best bet is Nissan all the way.

BTW my oil pressure always seems to hover just above 0 - i know the oil pressure gauges on these cars are rubbish but maybe its telling the truth?

Thanks again

This is a problem with mine too, oil pressure isnt very high, always between just over 0 and just over the first peg? whats the norm meant to be?

Mine has wierd readings too, when cold it can be 100+psi, when hot it can even drop to 0 for ages :( then come back up.

when cold my oil pressure can be as high as 95 to 105 psi. normal opperating temp the pressure sits at around 45 to 50 psi and drops to around 40 psi bar when temps slightly higher

Check the handbook regarding oil pressure guage... Hovering above 0 is normal when (in my case) sat in traffic...
