Nope, and no mention of brand, torque clamping force or even power capability. Doesn't offer much confidence.

thats what i thought! im starting to get desperate for a clutch now. it's started slipping in second gear. I can push to £250 for a clutch kit (but that is a big push and on my limit due to financial circumstances), but need to get it sorted as soon as possible as the Z is my daily driver.

Have you tried SWZ and Zedworld to see if they have any 2nd hand uprated clutches in with plenty of life left ?

Used to be able to get an RPS Sport from the U.S for about £250, but not anymore with current exchange rates :(

I've tried DTA and left a message with Jeff at zedworld, just waiting waiting back for a reply. think Dan at Dta quoted me just shy of £400 for an RPS clutch kit, but unfortunately a little bit out of my budget. I'll try SWZ in a little while. Thanks for the replies though Legrath.

TBH the stock TT pressure plate has a very high clamping force, 900kg IIRC, so if you're on a mega budget you could just buy a good quality friction plate (assuming the flywheel and pressure plate have not been abused :wack:)

Hi Dunk,

i would rather get a full kit if a can afford one as i have no idea as to how the car was treated before me, and knowing my luck, if i just brought a pressure plate, id find that all the rest needs replacing!

just had an email back from the guy advertising the clutch on fleabay and this is the response:-

"Yes it is a Techniclutch. It is circa 30% uprated and officially rated to 520NM of torque."

okay.... so does that sound good, or does it sound like a load of steaming cow poo?!?!?

Just be carefull how much you drive with a slipping clutch, Had the same on mine and kept putting it off until the clutch was slipping so bad I needed to renew all the clutch parts along with the plate. moral of the story I think is to do the change quickly before it costs alot more than just the plate.

just my 2 pence worth mate

hi Maz,

I totally agree mate. had the same problem with my impreza that i had before the z. kept putting it of and when i did eventually get round to it, i had managed to weld my clutch plate to the flywheel! luckily enough i had already brought a lightened flywheel to go with the clutch! I don't want to have the same problem with the Z so im trying to sort out a decent clutch with as little expense as possible, but on the other hand i don't want to buy something that will wear out in a couple of thousand miles! HI Danny, have you fitted the clutch yet?

No, not yet, I have booked it in for fitting next week... so will let you know how it goes

However, it does insist they are techniclutch`s and come with a 4 year manufacturers defect warranty...

Could you not contact a previous buyer through the sellers feedback as a few people have bought an organic clutch albeit for different models of vehicle but you could get an idea of quality

thats a cracking idea Jim. I'll try sending some now and see if i get any response. Just having a look on the usa ebay site and it's bloody annoying! why can you buy a complete clutch kit for just over £130 delivered in yanky doodle land and pay nearly twice that in the uk? i guess it's just our crappy government arse raping the sellers with tax etc!

hi Dunk,

yeah, i had a look through their ebay shop. if i wasn't in a hurry for one, i think id order one as i can get it sent to my works parent site in the states as we have shipments that come in every 2 months from them, unfortunately, the shipment has already left so id have to wait for the next shipment, but i cant wait 2 months and i have a feeling that if i did buy it, and got it sent direct, then i would get clobbered with import tax etc! bloody thieving gypsy ******* government!

Ok, my clutch kit has arrived today from this seller, when I opened it, it was an Exedy box. When I questioned them about it they said Techniclutch dont supply a kit for a 300ZX twin turbo so use Exedy parts instead. So, so far I am pleased!

i got one of these and had it fitted about a week ago. Seems good so far, no slippage, nasty judering and doesn't feel to heavy. seems to be a good buy so far.

Thank you for posting a conclusion to this. To often threads get left unfinished, so we don't find the answers.

I might try one of these based on your findings. Cheers.:duffer:

no worries mate. the jury is still out on the clutch as i've only had it in for a week and not really been able to give it a good hard run due to a leaky oil seal on my gearbox (getting sorted on monday), but so far so good! i would certainly not put anyone off buying this clutch kit, especially at the price i paid (£219 delivered!).

hey danny, don't think it was an exedy kit, as i couldn't see any markings on it. at present, i am running standard boost with an Apexi air filter, Apexi AFC and a catback exhaust.

If you want a standard clutch kit with new bearing their is a place in surrey called precision clutches they sell reconditioned ones for less then 100 pounds i have one in mine and its been fine
